    Israeli social media today is what social media in the 1930s would look under Jim Crow, complete with lynching videos being posted. The settlers are gleefully posting videos of themselves bullying Palestinians out of their homes.

  • I have a lifetime pass already but I’ve been souring on the app as they changed direction.

    Previously it was the best app for running your own personal streaming service. It lets you share your library with friends and it even had its own group watch feature allowing multiple people to watch the same stream together. It was perfect for remote friends and family, brilliant during Covid…. And they removed it for no obvious reason.

    Now the company spends more and more time trying to promote their own ad-laden video streams, they want us to rate movies and presumably sell that data. The company lost its way.

    Lifetime Plex was still worth it with those features at $200, not at $750. If I had to do it all over again I’d probably use JellyFin.

  • Even peaceful protest is too much for Israelis to handle. They shoot Palestinians for nonviolent protest. They shoot Palestinians for not leaving their homes. They called it “diplomatic terrorism” when Palestinians went to the UN to complain and slapped sanctions on Palestinians.

    When you do this, you make violent conflict inevitable. Netanyahu knows this and does it anyway. He wants that outcome.

  • That’s not what they voted for.

    It’s a weird world where you blame the public for not voting for a flawed candidate rather than the candidate for not being flawed. It’s like blaming an audience for not laughing at the comedian on stage.

    Harris made a conscious choice to avoid pandering to certain constituencies (in hopes it would pay off by gaining conflicted Republican voters) and that gamble went wrong as people warned it would.

  • There’s been polling analysis that showed if you forced everyone to vote then Harris would have lost to Trump by an even bigger margin due to the unpopularity of the administration at the time. Nonvoters didn’t make a difference. Michigan was won by Trump by a bigger margin than all college students or Arabs or Muslims or any other minority group in the state.

  • That’s not at all accurate. Toddlers are not an example of moral creatures; sharing and empathy are not developed at that age either.

    If religion went away, violence would still exist. Atheist regimes still commit genocides. Humans just suck. This still doesn’t address my original point, you’re claiming that Christianity is somehow inherently more peaceful and that’s historically false, and claiming that Muslims are peaceful but their religion is pushing them to the opposite, and that’s ridiculously ignorant. If Islam magically went away, you’d still see violence in the Middle East due to colonialism and imperialism.

  • That’s simply false. I’m a practicing Muslim and I’m peaceful because of my religion and not despite it. My religion pushes me to be more patient with people and respect people who probably don’t deserve it.

    Claiming that Muslims are peaceful despite their religion is a profoundly ignorant take. Talk to any kid in Sunday school if you don’t believe me. Islam has the same root word in Arabic as “peace.”

  • I watched Trump’s advisor tell the BBC that Venezuela is not like Iraq because it’s homogenous and surrounded by democracies.

    They’re massively overconfident. This could go downhill very badly. Rebels could damage the pipelines and sabotage the oil industry, requiring the US to put troops on the ground.
