  • No Xorg also ships with up to date distros like Debian, arch, Ubuntu, etc but several of them have switched to using Wayland by default. It is deprecated because it is no longer actively developed and only maintained by a small group of devs and even that because these devs work for companies like Red Hat, Oracle, etc who have a vested interest in fixing those bugs

  • The 4090 isn't that much better than the 4080, and the 4080 is much more energy efficient

    The 4090 often beats the 4080 with a margin of 25% or more often has a one percent low figure better than the average frame rates delivered by the 4080. If that is not enough for it to be considered much better, I don't know what is.

    Regarding your comments on efficiency, generally the high end is not as efficient as the other GPUs as they are pushed beyond the ideal point of the voltage-frequency curve to extract the most performance. And even after this, in GPU bound scenarios, the 4090 does great as it uses 25-35% more power to deliver 20-30% better fps which puts it on average around 10-15% behind in efficiency which is not enough in my opinion to claim that the 4080 is much more efficient.

    Just the 4090, the 4080 is not is not that big a jump compared to the 3090Ti. Considering the 4080 trades blows with the 7900xtx, can't say that it blows previous gen out of the water

  • I am getting tired of people claiming the car is built around verstappen and twisting albon's words to 'prove' it. Albon clearly says in the article that the car is what it is and that the only reason the car ends up being developed more towards verstappen is because he is faster and hence his inputs are given more weight.

    Hell even this year started off with the car suiting Perez but even then Perez could hardly match verstappen and once the car was updated slightly. Why would you give the guy who is at best equally matched and at worst nearly a second behind the other guy equal weightage when it comes to upgrades.

  • Firstly Perez never says this in the article. Secondly not only people who are at red bull but even people who have left red bull have confirmed that the car is never built for a particular driver. Instead, RB develops the car in a way that makes it faster and that just happens to be a oversteery car. Max is able to live with it and hence is able to extract the performance. If RB had 2 Sergio's they would have needed to make a fundamentally slower car because Perez would be able to extract the max from that car and not to able to do the same with a oversteery car. In that scenario, the car would seem slower than it actually is due to Perez's limitation. Kind of like a CPU bottleneck (Perez) masking the true performance of the GPU(car)

    Yes and no. RBPT is just a honda engine rebadged because honda were leaving and did not want their name on the engine. But they own the ip so while the 2026 Honda program does not link to the RBPT Honda Collab currently going on, there is a good chance that their 2026 PU will use a lot of IP of the current engine.

  • Yeah Aston will be the sole buyer of Honda so it will a works partnership where the chassis and engine can be designed for each other. If you are just a customer like McLaren is for Merc engines, they get little to no way to influence engine design
