  • If your analogy is based on consumption it makes no sense.

Meanwhile, I could drop eat from mine response and the point stands with a dry place to sit.

  • It's an advantage for the people who get a place to sit and eat.

And an advantage for the people who work in that restaurant if they're ever tired or out when it starts to rain that that they can rest or shelter in any other restaurants near by.

  • Sadly, they see that as the golden age.

  • There are some, perhaps somewhat unorthodox, Christian theologies that hold that the Old Testament stuff and what was allowed to happen as more of the planning and scheming of God to reach the desired end goal. Including temporarily limiting itself to order to get there.

  • If we're taking God's word for it all, then what is now was the preordained outcome of that chess master's plan.

For all we know a biblically accurate God is doing Xanatos Speed Chess to ensure that the current state of the world is the one true outcome regardless of what happens.

Besides, as we all know from science - there are a lot of different ways to end up with the same end result.

  • How did the artist manage to imagine Sisyphus angry?

  • To catch people selling or sharing essays online, I'd assume.

  • Por que no los dos?

  • To support the imposed US educated and chosen dictator, Syngman Rhee,'s mass killings that directly lead to the war?

  • Yeah, to me the most egregious part is that he didn't bring up any of it or apologise when it came up in the drive to work.

He should've known better and it is and remains egregious and a black spot, but sexism was more OK and soft power dynamics were less openly recognised so I could get it not being seen as a "big deal" in a boys club in the 90s, but while being the face of a company that purports to be capitalist-progressive and inclusive of women not apologising when it came up just shows where that façade ends.

All impacting why I felt the need to share here since I'd not seen it posted on Lemmy yet (and I got to use a YouTube alternative which I push when it comes up, too.)

If context is unclear might add a "mains" or even "C" in the middle as needed.

  • I find it sad that the fact that the protests of 89 were nation wide, and involved worker groups and farmers as well as students.

IIRC the last protest hold out was in South West China and wasn't quashed until the 5th.

The Tiananmen group was forced out and gunned down on the roads off of the square in the 3rd-4th night.

  • As someone who uses a Xiaomi phone, that's not true.

It was a faff getting it to install any random apk I found of off the Internet, but it was possible. Did involve holding down a graphic for 10 seconds as part of the unlock procedure.

But for now at least, you can still install any unsigned apk without going through a store.

  • Chinese version of YouTube (bilibili (B站)) has built in sleep timer functionality.

That beats the hell out of the adverts and autoplay rubbish YouTube subjects people not using Invidious or Piped to.
