  • How? Wouldn't they have to go through a voter registration process that requires a voter id and ss#, and who casts the vote? The CEO or someone selected from the board?.. and couldn't some rich asshole just start a whole bunch of corporations to give themselves as many votes as they want? This blatantly goes against the one person one vote principle.

  • Everyone's already complaining about things costing too much, but I'm sure it'll pass anyway...

  • The choice is between sales tax or property tax. Different counties and states can have different policies regarding that. What it comes down to is who should be paying more in taxes given the overall amount collected stays the same. If you put more emphasis on sales tax, then more of the tax burden is put on people with less wealth who don't own properties. If you put more emphasis on property tax, then more of the tax burden is on wealthier people who do own properties. So the question is who should have a bigger tax burden, rich or poor?

  • If the plan is to go back to the moon with a more permanent presence, then maybe they should send some communication satellites..

  • I thought I remember reading that she wanted some kind of promotion, maybe a cabinet postition or something but was passed over, so she left that group of grifters to start her own.

  • What concerns me is that I always thought younger people were usually liberal by a pretty large majority, but now it seems like a bigger portion are conservative than in the past. So they might become more liberal as they age but they're starting further right than they used to. Kids who grew up through trups first term probably think this shit is normal. American principles have been eroded or completely re-defined, and they have no clue what we used to be and used to strive for.

  • Sascha Riley. Haven't read much about it yet to know how credible it is, but he was in the military and got called in to talk to superiors when some other soldier got caught with cp and one of the pictures was Riley when he was a kid.

  • What are the rules about following orders from someone who seems mentally incapacitated?

  • ... so the US is constantly getting ripped off by trade deals, but somehow is still the richest country the world has ever known... make it make sense..

  • As someone who also doesn't fully understand quantum entanglement.. is it that when two particles are entangled and far apart, when we observe them they will always be in the same state? Is there any way to manipulate that state? If so, it seems like it would be pretty straight forward to use it for faster than light communications.

  • I always thought this country valued freedom.. nobody "MUST" do anything relating to culture.

  • I had a thought the other day that I'm not nearly financially literate enough to know how true it is, but with all the talk about stocks going up, couldn't that be an effect of the dollar going down?

  • I will say that I don't live in the UK, so maybe it works differently. I'm assuming internet plans include some kind of service contract you have to sign, and minors can't legally sign contracts without parental consent. So every internet connection is the responsibility of the adult who did sign it. If kids are going to be using it then it is their responsibility to put parental controls on their network and devices.

But like the other response said, its not actually about protecting kids. Basically, if a politician ever says those words, its almost certainly an attempt to take away freedom.

  • What happened to the assumtion that people on the internet are all adults. No kid is signing a contract for a phone or internet plan. They are on the internet through the permission of an adult who has. Its the responsibility of that adult to make sure they don't do anything they shouldn't. Don't make it other people's problem that you can't control your kids. We shouldn't try to kid-proof the world.

  • Wasn't the whole point of that announcement to make the stock price of the company that owns the patent for Tylenol plummet so that some donor to this administration could buy the company cheaply?

  • I know this is just semantics, but is it really "beyond earth's orbit"? If the moon orbits the earth, then isn't the moon still in earth's orbit?

  • It just doesn't feel as exciting as it should be. It feels more like a distraction from everything else. With all the cuts to NASA's budget, I'm just waiting for them to cancel the whole Artemis program..

  • If open carry is legal then any psycho could commit mass murder at any second, and no cops or anybody could do anything until after they start opening fire. On the other hand, if it is illegal then cops could step in at the first sight of a gun.
