  • Yeah, I liked Stacher but it didn't want to seem to parse out all the videos from the Playlist. Probably a settings or something I missed. Might try it again. Thanks for the input though!

  • Yup, it was an ffmpeg issue. I tried ffmpeg-batch to download and didn't have any problems at all. However, I only just noticed the resolution on iPlayer SUCKS! I mean it's 720p when the originals were 480p and it's worse than the Xvid copies I have now. Ugh! LOL Oh well.

  • Thank you for your input and understanding my situation but I've been fiddling around so much I've haven't gotten even one series or movie encoded. I'm about ready to just pirate a commercial product and see if that will do what I want it to but I probably still wouldn't find a product that would do everything I want, I'm afraid. Thanks again for your time & input!

  • I think that's part of my problems I have new stuff and stuff waaayyy over 10 years old and I'm trying to find a "sweet spot" for everything and I don't think that's possible. Yeah, I know what you mean about the additional language, audio, etc. tracks especially in stuff I get from Nyaa. I tend to batch demux a lot of that out before I even start messing around with re-encoding the file. Thanks for your input!

  • Thank you for the input and reference material. I'll give it a look-through and appreciate your time.

  • Thank you, this is VERY helpfuly information! As I mentioned in another reply the ffmpeg front-end I use FastFlix only allows bitrate or CQ encoding when using the VCEEnc Hardware encoder for AMD so your information is noted and very appreciated!

  • Thank you so much for your input. I'm so glad someone understands my point of view and doesn't keep telling me DON'T REENCODE. I know that but we do what we have to when we're not made of $$$. So, you're saying in re-encoding to let it select it's bitrate and use 2-pass and be done with it. That's actually helpful because FastFlix will only allow CQP or Bitrate encoding when using the AMD hardware acceleration VCEEnc. Again, thanks for the advice!

  • I understand about reencoding and I've gotten a lot of flak about that from a lot of people but as I mentioned above it's more of a space issue with me also. I appreciate the mention of groups to look to as that helps much. Thanks for your input!

  • Thank you for the input! I'm unsure what aq-mode is but I'm sure it's somewhere in FastFlix. There's tons of settings in it that I need to look over. The default CRF for HEVC in that program is 22 and I don't know if I should go higher, lower or what but I appreciate your insight.

  • Yeah, you hit the nail on the head. I only have two 2Tb drives and they are about full so I'm looking to downsize my files. Someone recommended buying a USB hub and several 16Tb Seagate drives to accomodate but I'm not sure if that's the best option.

  • Hey, thanks for all the info especially which files to backup for Jellyfin in case of data loss. That will save me a big headache. Not using Linux, gonna be Windows for me as that's what my desktop is. Docker is probably a good ways down the road. I need to get Jellyfin just right and add all the plug-ins I might want plus get Sonarr, etc. setup also but thanks for all the information. Appreciate it!

  • Wow, thanks for the incredible amount of information! I really appreciate it. It seems like everyone does something different and it gets to be a headache trying to find the way easiest for me. Yeah, I get what you're saying about Anime and Toku which is a LOT of what I'm downloading. It's a real pain, believe me. Plus, I DO want to seed as the torrent's themselves are like 1.5Tb (seriously) and I don't have the storage to make a copy of the data and rename. Anyway, again thanks for the input. Wish me luck!

  • Not using Linux. Window 10. But, thanks, I'll look at the vids and see if they are helpful.

How To Store, Stream, Backup & Protect?

  • Yeah, I've done a bunch of reading since this post and I'm going with CPU. It may put a bit more stress on my system but my system was built for high-end gaming in the first place so I shouldn't have any problems. Thank you for your input and information! :)

  • Thank you for the helpful information! Sounds like I got some bad information in the past. {not from here} lol

  • No, not so far. No crashes or anything like that. Someone somewhere just told me a good range for video rendering was between 65-75% core usage.

  • It doesn't help when I don't have a very good grasp of the Hardware mechanics of it. Thanks for trying to clarify for me! The thing I'm most concerned with in using the CPU for everything is most software including Handbrake I try, if I let the CPU do all the processing, each CPU core goes to >100% which is not good for the system for long periods of time and literally got 100s of DVD/BluRays I want to reprocess. I've always been told around 55%-65% on each core is acceptable when processing video. Any additional information you can provide would be most appreicated.

  • Hmm, I wonder... It's funny you mention this because Wondershare UniConverter I pirated and it installed and registered fine but I couldn't get the AMD acceleration to show up under acceleration. It's like it didn't recognize it. I wonder if this file you mention has something to do with that because it DOES support AMD acceleration.

  • Sorry, I'll try to be a bit clearer here. I have an MKV (h.264, aac, ass soft sub) file 1920x1080 16:9 I want to re-encode with HEVC reducing it to a 640x360 while retaining the soft subs. Actually, I would like to burn in the soft subs but it keeps defaulting to the programs standard font instead of using the soft subs styles. I use HWMonitor when checking the various softwares so I can see how much CPU or GPU usage is going on. I'm wondering if it's just a freaking AMD issue. I HATE so bad I didn't get an Intel or Nvidia graphics card when I had my system rebuilt. Anyway, I hope this provides a bit more clarity. Feel free to ask anything else as I'm just basically going around in circles right now. Thanks so much for your input!
