  • Why is America so surprised when they elected Trump? They bitched and moans how all politicians are liars, cheats, money hungry and so on. So now they got exactly that and they are surprised?

    Question one: Was America surprised when he was re elected?

    Yes, because the first time was a shit show of horror, and at least half the country couldn't believe the other half wanted that to happen again, regardless of how bad a candidate Kamala was.

    Question two: Are all politicians liars and cheat?

    Yes, but Trump is several orders of magnitude worse than all the others combined. Openly soliciting bribes and publicly accepting and wallowing in them. All while using the constitution to wipe his ass and just laugh.

    It really come down to scale, all the shit the Clintons and bushes and even Nixon have done just dont hold a candle to the lawless murder and greed trump is engaged in. Nothing like this has occurred before in the modern era. And remember, I'm including the illegal secret war Nixon created.

  • No, I don't think that will do anything but mildly inconvenience them.

    We had these chiller units at the lab I used to work at. They are built like a tank, the only vulnerable part is the two pipes carrying water in and out of the building. Plus our security people insisted we surround the chiller with a twelve foot fence topped with barbed wire.

    But even if you do shoot out one of the pipes, all that happens is an alarm goes off the and the system does and orderly shuts down. Our system was installed by the lowest bidder and failed all the time, no really problem.

    So if you were to do this, all you have done is risk your life and liberty to mildly annoy the powers that be. You'd be more effective running for local government and cutting them off from the municipal water system.

    Plus these building aren't wood, they are steel and concrete, you can't even burn them down. Only a transient power event, that overwhelms the surge protection would do any harm.

    Say like covertly putting up a lightning rod and running a wire to the building.

    But they know they are hated, and these places are well guarded. You will never get close to one. I just don't see a realistic way to do any damage except through the power line running into the building. Maybe via a substation.

    As nice as it is to fantasize about this stuff, you're attacking a fortified fixed position. They know you are coming, and law enforcement and government is on their side. Seems like a suicide mission.

    Edit: A little bit of context. I have a friend who is Russian and every year travels back there for a couple of week to see to her 80 year old mothers needs.

    The Russians are not some poor oppressed people who were dragged to war against their wishes. They are overwhelming in support of Putin and everything he has done. (up to now at least). They are the Russian equivalent of maga. They drank the koolaid and only now when things are going bad do they regret it. If the war turns back in their favor with will be out cheering in the streets. I have zero pity for these people.
