Hello thanks for visiting my profile.

For any picture posts I make with the [OC] tag, I provide a license for you to use my photo under the terms of CC-BY-SA-4.0. You may DM me for questions.

  • I watched Olympic archery on TV one time, it was like watching a Wii Sports Resort livestream at 0.1x speed.

  • The question’s confusing syntax reflects its tortured genesis: grievance politics in the prairies, improvised constitutional theory, personal ambition, infighting, backstabbing, bitter litigation – and an unprecedented data breach.

This one sentence really also does well to describe the Maple MAGA conservative movement overall.

  • If you can afford it, you can come to Toronto/Vancouver to watch football, European (Northern Super League and MLS) or Canadian (CFL) style (Or, Mexico for FIFA and local soccer leagues!)

You probably won't get shot, and if you feed off rabid fan-energy, go and see a Saskatchewan Roughriders game. CFL is like American, but 3 downs means there's less staring at a line and more kicking and passing. Check out !cfl@lemmy.ca

  • The non-news is that the Trump family or Trump Mobile has lied about anything one can.

The bad news is that the information on every customer that did order is easily accessible on the open internet.

The good news is that Trump Org lied about the number of people who ordered it so about 20-60x fewer people are affected than expected.

  • Doug Ford and the PCs.

  • Jensen Huang says Nvidia is also not a car.

It was reported by NYT that Trump, Hegseth and Netanyahu's plan for regime change was to install former Iranian President Ahmadinejad, someone with views largely aligned with the group currently in power... so it follows to me that the US-Israeli-plant Shah that many Iranians were calling for was not even part of the US' regime change playbook. The plan reportedly fell apart after the US-Israeli jailbreak plan was to blow up Ahmadinejad's house, injuring him in the process.

Not to mention, bombing a school full of children surely saved many civilian lives?

  • At this point I'm surprised he didn't talk about the Epstein ballroom in his economic affordability speech.

  • You know that wouldn't happen. Which AI company wants to be the one that says, "we're happy with where the model is at right now" and stops throwing cash into the boiler of the investor hype train and let their competitors exceed them in real or imagined metrics? Clearly firms like Anthropic have to rely on circus marketing tricks like "This model is too dangerous for the general public to see! Ooooh scary! Coming Soon!", and they can't do that without continuous training.

For you and I, the offline models aren't too bad for getting little side projects started, but for major AI firms, the ongoing training cost for the next model and the one after that has become ingrained into the operating model.

  • raise taxes and/or cut spending, and neither are politically feasible.

See, Democrats should call for a wealth tariff. Republicans hate taxes but love(?) tariffs apparently.

  • Will a McDonald's employee get it if he dies from a stroke from high cholesterol?

  • The BuyCanadian community is meant to feature and promote Canadian products, or domestic and local alternatives to certain products. If that feels too much like advertising to you, please feel free to block this community.

  • The offramp is to put your own party on trial for how heinous you have let it become.

  • Better than Lammy promising to cut children in jail awaiting trial by 25%.

  • As a result, democracies across the planet are now threatened by what might be called fossil fuel fascism – an extremist political movement that breaks laws, spreads lies and threatens violence in an increasingly desperate attempt to maintain markets for oil, gas and coal that would otherwise be replaced by cheaper renewables.

Finally, a more mainstream news org able to put out an opinion properly calling out the US as fascist, and "fossil fuel fascism" is an apt phrase to describe the deliberate effort by Republicans, billionaires and corporations to hinder progress and kill the planet for their own bottom lines.

I've become more emboldened to talk to people about how much better renewables have become and will be... clearly it's having an effect against trillion dollar corporate and state backed PR campaigns.

  • Tinnitus is the effects of your brain trying to process the sound from your damaged ear follicles. You can train yourself to ignore it or make it quieter. In a way, it's similar to cognitive behavioural therapy for chronic pain management.

  • The robot should take the Amtrak instead of flying.

  • I think they will become like IBM, once dominant, not dead today but pretty much irrelevant compared to what they once were.
