  • As an engineer I greatly disagree. Sure in your engineering classes you get a much more “real” understanding what the math operations do, however without the foundational math skills you can’t do the engineering derivations. Kinda of a chicken and egg situation.

  • What a shit article. The courts ruled that the hundreds of employees that were placed on admin leave pending termination for working there less than a year were fired illegally. They cannot fire them. Since they are still on admin leave they have to come back.

    What they failed to mention is that all of the employees who were put on admin leave pending termination, who then took the “fork” offer do not get to come back because they “quit.”

    The GSA was and is DOGE central and is completely broken right now.

  • Age verification is ID verification. By requiring ID site owners effectively have a monopoly on the bot armies infesting reddit, YouTube, Facebook, etc. These armies aren’t going away. They are just getting smarter and more influential with AI.

    Everyone is focusing on the privacy aspect and glossing over the fact that these laws give Silicon Valley complete control over online discourse. They’ll know who exactly who you are and how best to manipulate you with their bots.

  • If companies stop reporting quarterly, then all of the bad news is going to come all at once at the end of the of most companies fiscal year in the fall. Since it’s every industry, the entire market will surge or sink every fall. If people had insider knowledge, well that’s a yearly wealth transfer from your 401k to the 1%.

  • For me at least it’s that the perspective is off. When someone is learning to draw or is just a shitty artist and the perspective isn’t very good you can immediately identify it. It looks like someone drew “front” eyes on the side of the head or something like that. When AI makes an image, the perspective is off, just in a different ways. The eye doesn’t look like a “front” eye or a “side” eye or a “top” eye. It looks like all of them and none of them. It makes the entire thing unsettling.

  • Imagine if the AI bots learn to target and prioritize content not generated by AI (if they aren’t already). Labeling your content as organic makes it so much more appetizing for bots.

  • I feel like this is closer to the real answer. A lot of the criticism of Tesla applies to other EVs as well. Elon tanking his credibility opened up a dialogue about how EVs in general are super inconvenient, destroy roads, and aren’t nearly as “green” as they seem. This coupled with the US automakers focusing on behemoths instead cheap commuters only amplified this.
