I've been banned from too many communities already. Fuck Lemmy mods, makes this place worse than Reddit.

  • I'm not in agreement with that either. I don't agree that native Americans were involved in a genocide. I would imagine most people would agree with that. It's a whatabout to me because it's not even in a similar circumstance. If you look at actual examples of genocide it doesn't look like native America or Gaza.

  • I think Lemmy likes perpetuating a particular propaganda that keeps reiterating the same talking points until they are engraved in your brain. Genocide is an extremely specific judgement that requires both evidence of specific intent and specific action. You can make claims to one but not to both. The intent doesn't match the action.

  • If there was an intent to destroy Gaza and all it's inhabitants Israel would have done so already. I probably need to see more justification than some emotional outburst a few days after getting terror attacked and israeli citizens kidnapped.

    Your arguments are weak. Yes there is a sad situation where a lot of Palestinians are dying but it's not a genocide.

  • I hate the idea of treating homeless like babies. Most of these people got to where they are by choices. If they wanted to stay at the church they probably can. Most churches I know have cots for people down and out. If these people wanted to stay at the church they would have.

  • Hot take is I don't think anyone should care about Aaron Swartz. He didn't do anything for Reddit in the merger and left without doing anything for Reddit so who cares. He then died being a martyr for a cause barely anyone cares about and his death didn't inspire any change to education publication/copyright. Nobody should care.

    Edit: you can downvote me all you want but I would like someone to comment on 1 thing Aaron contributed to Reddit. Why should anyone remember his name other than 'but he killed himself for the cause bro'.

  • You seem to underestimate the gang problem. I was in Ilobasco a few years ago and my family that lives there urged me not to go outside past 7pm because I can be a target or even kidnapped. Like wtf why do the gangs get to dictate curfew in 2017? Past nightfall you have to turn the lights off so people in the streets can't peek into your house through the metal guard rails on all the windows. It was eye opening to say the least. Since Nuevas Ideas I have only heard good things and good changes to the area from my family. There were so many people associated to the gangs that I have little sympathy for those 'innocently accused'. I would rather a few loosely incorporated get caught than let the gangs do what they want freely.
