The experience has been very difficult for me to process. I try to remain objective. What was it? I don't know. Was it alien? I don't know. But I spent a great deal of time digging through UFO lore, was a regular at the Errol Bruce-Knapp UFO-Updates list where major figures like Stanton Friedman, Jerome Clark, Bruce Maccabee, Kevin Randle, and others posted. That was the best (highest S/N) public UFO forum I've seen. Far, far better than r/UFOs. And yet, there's just so much disinfo and outright bullshit. Too many hucksters out for a buck. Too many sensationalist podcasts. Few people with real credentials willing to speak openly. There are a few. But not enough.

I'm disillusioned.

Might I recommend a library card? Most libraries have a DVD/BlueRay collection to borrow. And there are books. Maybe the younguns might want to consider reading a few more books? It's good for you. Like eating vegetables for the mind.

Krita is doing its own thing

No. I don't think the smart patch tool works nondestructively. There are three nondestructive systems in Krita:

Alpha Masks. This lets you edit transparency for a given layer. A common use is to remove backgrounds. But you can also paint or use the gradient tool for soft transitions. Gimp has had this too since at least the 2.10 series. Perhaps 2.8.
Alpha masking of adjustments. This lets you paint or use the gradient on an adjustment layer, such as Curves or Levels. Again, to allow for soft transitions of adjustments. Note that GIMP 3.2 currently CANNOT do this. It does have adjustments, which are called 'filters' in GIMP speak. And like Krita, they can be reordered in an adjustment/filter stack. But unlike Krita (and Ps), an adjustment/filter currently only applies to an entire layer. The adjustment can not be edited within the layer itself on a mask.
Layer Styles. This is commonly used for nondestructively adding styles to text, like drop shadow, sparkle, glow, etc. Gimp got this in 3.0.

Gimp has made some real improvements with the 3.x series. But it still lacks basic functionality that Ps has had since 1997 with Photoshop 7.0, and Krita has had for something like fifteen years. But it's getting there. And it does have better adjustments/filters than Krita. And it has had editing text on the canvas since 2.10 (I think?), whereas that's being deployed for Krita 6.0 I believe.

I had a broad daylight sighting in 1994. It came down over a field, hovered, and shot up and off with extreme speed. That shit was real. A physical object under intelligent control.

Krita has a fully nondestructive workflow, including alpha masks for filters. It's had it for fifteen years or so. GIMP is still trying to catch up.

I was raised episcopal as a kid. Episcopalian on my mom's side, Catholic on my dad's. This was in the 1970s and early 80s. I remember our church would invite this particular female pastor to give a guest sermon on a regular basis. And in that era it was radical for a woman to be a minister.

Splitting lanes is illegal in BC and is one thing cops will really fuck you over for. I have a motorcycle though. But those .50cc scooters are great. Vespas and Yamahas have plenty of storage too.

Bicycles are fine and all, but round these parts we have BIG hills. You'll want an ebike or a scooter for that. And scooters are a lot cheaper to buy.
