  • This is genuinely so funny. As is typical, most of the well-sourced comments you make never receive anything rigorous in return, and they can't even claim trolling/harassing/AI/bot or anything because your comments are always cool-headed and respectful.

So I guess the best retort is to just completely hide your comments from their users? Lest they become curious and actually consider reading a book or an article?

  • I wouldn't expect a reply to this comment, lol.

  • I thought that was what the .ml account was for, lol.

  • Wishing everyone a great week. The past month has been quite stressful for me, but things are starting to look up.

  • Is there a federation issue with lemmy.ml? I can't see any posts from there.

  • Where do they get the skulls? 🤨

  • Acing exams to own the libs.

  • They kinda suck, but you have to make sure to place them on a completely flat and horizontal surface, and use it in the same place every time. Keeps the variance down a bit.

  • I'm no doctor, it's best to ask whoever gave you the diagnosis. But generally salt should be fine AFAIK, just not excessive amounts of salt.

  • Not sure, but excessive salt is generally not very easy on the stomach.

  • I’ll try to do more research on what counts as “processed.” Please no MAGA shit if you recommend me anything, but yeah, I’ll do my own research, of course. You know how labels and buzz words get misused, of course.

Oh yeah, I definitely agree there. The way people rail against "processed" food like it has some sort of malignant metaphysical property pisses me off.

I meant more so in the sense that ready-made foods at the supermarkets like mock-meats and such tend to have a high salt and fat content (because the companies want them to taste good if you eat them as-is). Nothing you can't quickly check off the back of the package.

  • What the fuck? I like veganism and always respected the movement since way back, but you think that this could be related?

It was just light-hearted jest (hence the /s), but maybe in poor taste. My bad.

    Anti-inflammatory, eh?

Regarding the recipes, I was going off of what you and @Maeve@lemmygrad.ml were mentioning regarding low-fat, easy-on-the-stomach foods which is why I recommended that website since it has quite a few recipes that I think would be suitable.

I'm no doctor and I don't know about stomach ulcers specifically, I was just recommending food that is pretty easy on the stomach in a general sense.

    And these are your recipes?

They're not my recipes, I just think they're pretty good and well-labelled. They also have a youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@thenarddogcooks

Tbh, I do like plant-based meat, though maybe it’s still disgusting to you…

I don't mind plant-based mock-meats at all, I eat them occasionally (though if they're super-realistic, it does put me off a bit).I think if you have a sensitive stomach right now it's still probably better to eat whole foods since processed stuff tends to have a lot of salt and fat in it, which might not be helpful, but I'm not sure.

  • Critical support to stomach ulcers furthering the vegan cause. 🫡 /s

On a serious note, it's as good an opportunity as any to try out delicious plant-based recipes. I recommend checking out https://makeitdairyfree.com/recipes. They have a lot of anti-inflammatory recipes, all allergens and sensitivities clearly listed, and many fairly easy/quick healthy recipes with a lot of variety.

    Hope you feel better soon.

  • They're not even pretending to be genuine at this point.

  • There are already Open Source dating apps. You might be interested in checking out their implementations and how they address the questions you're asking.

The most-used one appears to be, of all things, the 4chan dating app Duolicious. Here's a link to a "KnowYourMeme" article describing what it is. It had a lot of discussion around it and seemingly a lot of active users.

The other is Alovoa which has been around for a long time, and is the one that usually comes up when you search for Open Source dating apps. I'm not sure if it actually has an active user-base though.

I think this actually highlights an important point, which is that attempts at creating generic alternatives are a lot less likely to succeed compared to targeted ones. Even the big companies realise this. You see more and more dating apps popping up in different countries targetted at muslims, lesbians, vegans, black people, and so on.

People tired of Tinder & Co. are more likely to find and try your app if it's the one that comes up when they search "flat-earther dating app" (if that's what appeals to them) as opposed to randomly choosing one of the dozens of generic dating apps.

4chan's conditions are especially unique in that it has a specific site culture, a very large user-base, and it's a forum/imageboard which means that the app already had a place to market itself to all 4chan users. This is probably why it became successful.

Ultimately, I think that's more important than the specific discovery mechanics of the apps. They become less relevant anyway as you're already filtering a lot of people by using a more niche app.

In a lot of countries and cities you might find only a handful of people in your region to begin with, and it's more likely that you'd meet them and talk since you already have a common ground, as opposed to endlessly swiping through hundreds of profile.
