  • Yep, that's why I call that a tradeoff. Far from perfect and yet so much better than nothing.

    Pros:

    • Likely cuts 99.99% of attacks.
    • Nothing to do on client's end.

    Cons:

    • Whitelisting must be updated everytime the client address changes.
    • Not 100% bulletproof as operators (notably for mobile networks) can NAT multiple connections behind a single publicly addressable IPv4 address.
    • Also IP addresses can be spoofed but I doubt that would be a major concern here.
  • No, not for remote access over the internet.

  • For a remote and non-technical user I would say IP whitelisting offers a decent tradeoff.

On your end you expose your jellyfin port to internet, but restrict at the router level to your user's client IP address as soon as you have it. Obviously in practice this works best if the address does not change often.

  • I have searched for such a game, featuring both realistic driving and open world roaming.

I settled on BeamNG.drive which can do that out of the box, even though it's capable of much more. While it lacks the high quality environments of the Forza Horizons it has very good wheel and even VR support and is simply the best automobile sandbox around.

  • With the prepaid live gold cards and gold to ultimate 1:1 conversion rate, game pass had really great value. I played quite a number of games that had flown under my radar over the ~4years I was subscribed.

Obviously I bailed, since they killed all conversion enticements and price hiked it to ludicrous levels.

  • Oh so there is a proper name for this ! I have had those once in a while since I was a kid, and still get them well into my forties.

I do still remember the anxiety the first time it happened.

  • He manages to toot his own horn and be completely tone-deaf in a single sentence.

  • This game looks like a major flop in the making. It seems like they are trying to appeal to the Fortnite crowd with those flashy visuals and style.

Overall they are making some weird moves with Horizon, trying to expand it into a multi-genre license. This is a lot to put on a game which could have been a one-shot with a powerful story. The sequel felt kind of forced story-wise and don't get me started about its ending.

  • Sysinternals (winternals) tools are so useful ! There is something for everyone there (TcpView, ProcExp are my personal go-tos). MS was well inspired to buy it and hire M. Russinovich.

  • DRG never fails to impress. One of my favorite mission-based coop games of all time (along with Helldivers 2 and Vermintide 2). I'll be dabbling into some Ossuary exploration for sure.

  • Toujours bon de ne pas mettre tous ses oeufs dans le même panier.

  • I opted into the prod_slim beta and it works as advertised. 22.01 GB on my SSD and the game is running the same as before, as far as I can tell.

  • I like the enthusiasm, but I'm sure you realize why Jellyfin is more suitable for mainstream use. The pretty web UI, user management, watch tracking and device-specific clients are what makes the software actually useful if you want to serve media to "normal" people.

  • It's unlikely you can prevent install or remove entire features when Microsoft does not want you to. Depends on how baked-in they make it. More often than not it's a game of whack-a-mole where you find out what toggles are available that disable stuff you do not want.

  • More unwanted bloat to disable, I guess.

  • Re-enabled experimental wake-on-bluetooth support for Steam Deck LCD, including support for LE peripherals

Just tested this with Xbox Series controllers. They are indeed able to wake up my SD LCD now, whereas only Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers (non BLE) used to work before.
