  • As someone whose family member is in a wheelchair and already has trouble crossing in the allotted time in NYC because of all the uneven pavement and crap curbcuts, it's nigh impossible when the cars crunch into the crosswalk all helter-skelter like that.

  • This one looks like it was just having a rest under there, but if you find a turtle/tortoise in the road and want to move him to safety, be careful to take him in the direction he was already facing. He is on a mission to get laid and if you try to send him another way he will go back and try to cross the road again.

  • Looks like a box turtle to me, so if you put him in a stream or pond he could swim to shore, have a nice little soak, poop in the water and climb out.

  • But there's still a distinct lack of fully flat table-surfaces in most vehicles. Including our minivan although it could be a loss from the wheelchair conversion, along with the middle row of seats.

  • There's a lot I don't understand about that picture. I'm so old I remember window trays at the drive-in in the 1960s, and they attached differently, with the window fully open and the bumpers against the door. With the one in the picture I don't see how you're supposed to get your drink past the opening without spilling it. Even the cherries on the banana split would scrape off. Also, it looks like they have the hood up? Which makes the rest of the scene hard to see but the girl with the balloon animal and the car behind her are from at least 20 years later than the orange car. So maybe it's vintage and they're being careful about the orange paint.

  • NPR noted this morning that several of the AI gatekeepers who do the initial screening of applications are biased against Blacks and Asians, and maybe 50% of your applications are going to companies which use the same AI, so half those individual opportunities are really just one racist rejection. (If you aren't Asian or Black you could still be getting screened out of 50% of jobs by one thing the AI is rejecting.)
