I'd be interested in how "from the area" is defined. Given the percentage of the general population that's originally from elsewhere, I'm pretty sure it's not been limited to "born here." Fair enough . But there's a study from USC that seems to indicate a lot of homeless people who came from elsewhere initially stayed in someone else's home before becoming homeless. Would that put them in the "from the area" group when they wind up on the street? Are we talking about years? Or months?

Separately, I'm interested in how many foster children age out of the (minimal) support system and into homelessness.

Agreed, except in the US we (edit: usually) use quotation marks for that, unless the whole thing is already in quotation marks.

I'm aware many other places use apostrophes, but ICE is a US peacecrime.

I think we all, tall and small alike, can agree the airlines can get fucked with the way they jam inhuman numbers of seats into the airplane. You know they bribe Congress with free flights, to keep themselves carved out from disability -access laws and even basic decency for their passengers.

The OP article doesn't get around to saying they aren't ready for human trials until you've scrolled most of the way down, leading the casual reader to think the participants were human.

If you're packing a PBJ for later, a thin layer of soft butter on the jelly side prevents it sogging the bread. Especially helpful if you're using preserves rather than jelly, so there's fruit-syrup between the fruit pieces. It also adds a nice little salty-umami flavor.

The only woman in the story is the victim, who was standing outside the vehicle as it pulled up and the gun blew through the door.

It's interesting to me that nothing is mentioned about the driver/gun owner, and it's written in passive voice as if the vehicle, dog, and gun all acted by themselves. But SOMEONE not only drove to the store with a loaded unsecured shotgun, they also had their unsecured dog with it in the backseat.

Fortunately it appears the door took the brunt and the woman wasn't killed. Maybe the gun and dog should have aimed at the driver's seat.

As a woman myself I find it easier to button my husband's shirt than my daughter's. Because my hands know how to do my own, facing in the opposite direction on my body.
