  • Politicians already have all the power they need to combat parasitic companies. They just decide not to use that power for the purpose we gave it to them. Instead they use it to gain personal wealth and influence.

    The companies are a symptom of a broken system. But the politicians keep it going, instead of taking care of it.

    Edit: Go and see who knocks at your door, if you actually try to change the system. It is not the corporations.

    Never heard of Grails before browsing through an online shop and looking for another LP to justify the shipping costs for an LP I already had in the cart. Heard through a bunch of that shops LPs and this was the one that really stuck with me. Heard it more often than the one I originally wanted to order.

    Also it has a super sweet locked groove on side D. I loooove locked grooves.

    Supertramp is my LP guilty pleasure. Gonna listen to a bunch of their records today. Can't wait until it's Breakfast in America's turn. That album is just so damn good.

    This copy of Crime of the Century is a 52 years old version I bought on a local flea market. Still sounds incredible.

    Another one of the countless bands I've found through my love for video games. Heard their song "Square Ball" in Skate 2 and was immediately hooked.

  • That record player once belonged to someone else. We burried them about a year ago, the petals were part of the ceremony. I kept one and put it where it is now.

    They wanted to build a collection, but never got to own more than 6 LPs. So I built on what they had and our shared library is now 150 entries strong.

    We connected a lot through music, so this felt appropriate and actively helped me in processing that loss.

    In a better world this would be the "The Powers That B" LP, but that thing is really hard to get. So my second favorite DG album has to do. This is the 2020 reprint which is also a mispress, the last two songs on side B are switched. That is probably the reason this version is affordable.

  • A lot of uplifting stuff by IDLES. The singer struggled with depression and drug addiction himself for years. Many of their songs are either about empowerment, equality, mental health... or about rotten media, how parasitic our politicians are, punching nazis in the face... you get the gist.
