Your resident human error

  • The album on Youtube

This one was a bucket list item for me. Way back in '95 or '96 I was very much into the video game Road Rash for the Playstation. The game itself was great, but what really made it stand out was the soundtrack. It introduced me to many bands I still love today: Soundgarden, Swerverdriver, Paw, Hammerbox and heavily influenced my taste in music. Of course I had to get their albums on vinyl when I started collecting. Now the only one I am still missing is Dragline by Paw. A cool 200€ on discogs for that one, so it will have to wait.

Now, about this album. The second and final one by Hammerbox, a female fronted Grunge band from Seattle. It was released in 1993 before they disbanded in 1994. The singer, Carrie Akre, went on to form Goodness. This LP arrived today in opened shrink, looks like no one touched it over the last 33 years.

  • There are some good people in the camp, sure, but Dutch is not one of them. Neither is Arthur, no matter how you play him. Dutch is a charismatic devil with a silver tongue who makes people believe he is the good guy. Seems like he got you too.

Edit: This whole exchange comes across a lot harsher than it was meant. I understand you, Dutch is a very well written character who is fun to be around. I just found it a bit strange how you romanticized this gang of truly awful persons. But I get it, the camp feels like family. I've been there, I would have slaughtered a whole town to protect Tilly.

  • Dutch has no respect, for no one. He is a violent criminal who groomed children into becoming his personal killers.

    Have you finished the game?

  • "Everything is so simple, there’s so much respect between people, they live camping with a simple life, everybody trying to help to survive as they can, singing at the end of nights, having profound and philosophical talking. It’s such a more human focused life."

Have we played the same game? They are murderers, drunkards and thieves who constantly backstab each other.

  • Fantastic album, no other way to describe it. My mom bought it on CD, way back when Killing Me Softly was playing everywhere. She didn't like the rest of the songs, but I did. It was my introduction to Hip-Hop.

  • I had a critical amount of exposure to it in the 90s. My body is refusing to accept that anyone likes this song, despite it having 277 million views on Youtube.

  • Maybe the game freezes now and then?

  • I will just leave this here. NSFW!

  • Just took a look at my city (Kiel, Germany). Very well maintained database. Almost every single restaurant and shop I could think off was present, the one that wasn't I could quickly add.

The C grade feels fair, considering that there aren't that many purely vegan places and availability depends heavily on which side of the city you live. Maybe a C+ would be okay too, if a grade like that exists.

I think the "Vegan Friendly" label needs some distinctions. There is a difference between a vegetarian burger store that offers every burger in a vegan variant and a kebap store that also has one vegan falafel option.

What makes it better than Google Maps? It is not Google, that simple. I haven't used HappyCow that much to give a proper comparison.

What I DON'T like about PlantsPack is that it asks for your full name when signing up. It is not required, but that instantly made me not want to sign up until I realized the fields are optional. I am weird like that.

Just caught this fine 7" at the local record store, together with a copy of "Bootleg Rum Dum Blues" by Blind Blake. Seems to be a remix by Steve Churchyard, but I can't really tell the difference. I first heard Cities in Dust while playing Burnout Paradise many many years ago. It was the fantastic Junkie XL remix.

  • That whole Paris concert from 1970 is fantastic. Had an MP3 rip of this on my phone for years.

Found out about them through the video game "Life is Strange". From their Wikipedia page:

The band's "actual" name is the triangle-shaped symbol ∆, the capital Greek letter delta which is used in mathematics to mean "change". On Mac computers, that symbol can be typed by pressing the keys Alt-J, hence the name Alt-J.

  • I do too, but it has been a month since then and I forgot the basics. Gonna start a fresh run I think.

  • Your progress in the demo carries over into the full game btw.

  • Surveillance Age verification for gaming incoming.

  • The Jill-Sandwich?

  • I really need to get back into Highfleet. I did a few runs but then ran out of steam.

  • Never heard of them, but "The Future's So Bright" gives me strong Dire Straits vibes. Nice find!
