  • They are also leading the world in coal mining.

I see this ridiculous comment all the time. Yes, they are mining coal because their need for energy outstrips their ability to build and bring online renewables but that doesn't change the fact that they are building renewables faster than the rest of the world combined and at some point cleap, clean renewables will meet their energy needs.

Energy cost makes up between 10% and 80% of the cost of everythin you buy. When energy is cheaper the products are cheaper or the profits are higher. When China is run on all those cheap, clean renewables, and when the US has burned all the oil and all the gas and all the coal and the wealthy have run away to their slave islands to sit on their bags of money everyone else will be fucked.

But, by all means, keep Whatabouting those stupid little "gotcha" comments.

And I remember people singing the same song about Japan in the late 70s as they do about China now. Extrapolation works perfectly in a world with no limiting factors.

Really? People were saying that Japan was building so much cheap, clean renewable energy that they were going to have cheaper products and beat the west? I don't remember anyone saying that.

  • The US government is falling all over itself to fellate the oil and gas industry to protect their profits. They have blocked EVs in every way possible.

China doesn't give a fuck about the US Church of Profits and is building renewable energy and EVs faster than the rest of the world combined.

The west has already lost. China won. China will be in charge in the very near future.

  • The Justice Department pays informants in extremist organizations using tax dollars. The difference is that the DOJ supports the groups they are funding while the SPLC is gathering evidence to expose and shut down those same organizations.

  • Yes, but how are corporate profits? Are they healthy?

  • Trump's media company is utterly worthless. It never had any value. All it lost was a binch of pedofascist bootlickers who are rethinking their life choices.

  • MAGA is a pedofascist death cult.

  • The extremists are a bit much but otherwise I like it here.

  • Tumblr has entered the chat.

  • January 6 ended with a single bullet.

  • I don't think they came anywhere close to overthrowing the government. Trump didn't call out the National Guard but the surrounding states sent theirs in. Had the asshats persisted I have no doubt that there would have been a lot of dead insurrectionists.

  • That's not how revolutions work. Soldiers are trained to do one thing, to kill people who shoot at them. If you shoot at soldiers there is a very high liklihood that you're going to end up very, very dead. The only way a revolution in the US will work is if the army switches sides to support the people. If that doesn't happen, the revolution will not succeed. A bunch of Gravy Seals in ill fitting mismatched surplus store body armour carrying AR-15s will never succeed in overthrowing the US government no matter how many childish circle jerk murder fantasies they share. What will win the revolution in the US is old ladies with pots and pans and young people with whistles. You need to get enough people off their asses and into the streets making noise and protesting. That means you need over 12 million people in the streets protesting on a sustained basis then you need the army to suppor the people.

  • Mine, too.

  • That's a little different. That was an insurgency, not a revolution, and they were heavily supported by China and Russia. That would be more comparable to the years long grinding insurgency that would bankrupt the US if it ever tried to take over Canada.

  • Sure, but they will get in that tank inside a well fortified base protected by helecopters with door mounted mini guns and Hellfire missiles, go out and kill people with piddly little AR-15s at an industrial scale, then return to their well fortified bases for afternoon tea.

The second ammendment was wirten back when the people and the government had the same weapons. That isn't the case anymore. If you take on the government, you die. If 100,000 of you take on the government most of you die. Unless you can get a sizeable portion of the peopulation out from in front of Keeping Up with the Kardashains and into the street to protest you're a pedofascist dictatorship for the forseeable future.

  • Anyone who thinks their AR-15 is going to let them take on a tyrannical government has no understanding of how tanks work.

  • 3 weeks.

  • Go back to Reddit.

  • Here's the thing...I didn't say that I had a big penis. Go back and read my comment. I didn't say a single word about the size of my penis. All I said was that he wanted what I have. What I have is that I don't care about the size of my penis. Now you, on the other hand, like so many people here on Lemmy, are super sensitive about anyone saying anything about having a big penis. I was downvoted for saying that a penis in a picture looked about average to me. Super touchy subject for some reason. What was it about my comment that touched a nerve? That you thought that I was saying that I have a big penis? Why is that?
