  • Up Aasgard! We had a core permit so we stayed a night at Colchuck, two at Perfection, one at Snow, then finished our hike down. Weather cooperated for the most part, rained on us for a couple of hours our first at Perfection but was dry the rest of the time.

Did you make the trek recently?

  • That's...actually correct and I didn't realize it! I've thought the goat on the left was mid-jump but you're right, zooming in makes it pretty clear the rocks are there. My wife and I have loved that picture since we snapped it, but I'm going to blame it on hiking exhaustion mixed with seeing what we wanted to see.

Hope the picture is cool regardless, but you're totally right. Here's another picture we took as a consolation prize - and the goat is definitely jumping in this one!

  • Good eye! We were backpacking up there end of July, my phone says it was taken July 31st.

  • It's probably going to be a bit - there are 7 chapters planned with 1-4 out now and 5 coming out next year. I don't think anything has been announced for chapters 6 and 7, but I'd think end of 2027-mid 2028 would make sense for it to be complete.

That being said, I haven't jumped into Deltarune yet for similar reasons, but I've heard each episode tends to have a 'Conclusion' instead of cliffhangers and players have felt satisfied waiting for the next part. I'll probably pick it up in the next year to see how it is.

  • No new releases from Naughty Dog partnered with big IPs like God of War and Horizon releasing early in the PS5's lifecycle with no news from those studios is really making it feel stagnant from a first party perspective. When you list out the releases, the slate doesn't look too bad; we have a new Spider-Man, Astro Bot and Helldivers were excellent surprises, and Ghost of Yotei is right around the corner. The issue for me is after Yotei releases, there isn't anything we are aware of that I can think of off the top of my head that's coming soon, except maybe Wolverine.

Intergalactic is obviously exciting, but there's no way that game is coming before 2027 (if not 2028 or beyond). Guerrilla is surely making a new Horizon game which COULD make next year, but we'll see. The PS5 release schedule has just felt pretty slow since 2022, and beyond 3rd party support, it doesn't feel like there is anything huge coming to give it momentum.

  • Pretty cool idea to get people interested who haven't played before, or recapture previous player's excitement to hopefully sway them to Deltarune!

  • Really not surprising when they took a planned DLC and decided to charge $70 for it. I know this won't change much for the franchise moving forward, but it's still nice to see!

  • I suppose you have a solution and are aware of a candidate who can put that solution into action?

  • My little guy is just past 10 and has kidney disease too. Has been given the "hospice" diagnosis twice now and he's still going.

So so sorry for your loss, I understand how helpless it can feel.

  • Kutcher and Kunis' phones ringing off the hook right now.

  • Ooooh big strong man is so angwy!

  • Am I the only one coming away from this post actually impressed with the idea?

  • End of an era. Much love for Martinet and I'm happy Nintendo is still keeping him around in some sort of capacity! Hopefully this was mutual; him being in a video about it with Miyamoto feels like it probably was.

  • aww @lemmy.world

Checked out an alpaca farm today and had a great time feeding them!

  • I doubt it will be, but I'm hoping that the parents will be Kitty and Red.

  • ...got any grapes?

  • That is simultaneously the coolest and cutest thing I've seen today!

  • I wonder if they'll use this opportunity to sort of "relaunch" the games and include a huge performance patch at release. The DLC was the best part of Sword and Shield, and these look like they could be the same.

It's also easier for me to get excited because I really didn't have crazy performance issues. Definitely some bad slowdown in places, Pokemon battles occasionally had some interesting glitches, but I don't think it ever crashed on me. I played mostly in handheld, so maybe that helped.

  • Talk about learning something new, all of that sounds like the best way to move forward with retro games if the budget allows. Even just the simplicity of connecting everything through HDMI would be worth putting together something, at least on a smaller scale.

Thanks for sharing all of that information!
