  • I like the first one.

  • Yeah, I did quote badly. And it formatted badly, as I'm on mobile. I gotta learn how to quote properly. My bad.

  • It's definitely the food. And it's both. The two studied preservatives, when in manufactured form, and ultra processed foods, are both known to be harmful. Their take away suggestion is to limit ultra processed foods, because they all can contain these preservatives. They say that because overall that will have the most benefit, mostly because they can only account 35% of the known preservatives in our foods, yet. So theres still 75% we are consuming, in our foods, that they aren't yet able to find. Just of these two mentioned preservatives. It's a long term exposure, kinda thing, it's not going to kill you if you eat it once, and eating it here and there isn't as long term damaging, as if it made up the bulk of your diet. If it's predominantly most of what you eat, the accumulating harm, builds up.

The way it causes obesity and diabetes, I wonder if it's effecting the insulin reception system, on a cellular level. That essentially the body reads it as sugar and it overloads the system.

  • I get what you're thinking, Vitamin c, in an of itself isn't bad, but artificially manufactured Vitamin c isn't the same, it's not from a naturally derived product, and it's been studied that the fake stuff, used as a preservative, is harmful, the naturally occurring stuff, isn't harmful. They suggest just reducing your processed foods intake, as much as possible to reduce exposure.

  • It is vital, they are all entirely delusional, from consistently only breathing in their own farts.

  • The preservatives. Because they're manufactured. Ultra processed foods, in and of themselves cause a huge ratio of health issues, and although they seemed to relate the problems mostly to the preservatives, the ultra processed foods themselves, were what was recommended to avoid.

  • It's actually a bit complicated and complex, entirely worth reading the whole article. Here's a couple of exerpts While antioxidants such as citric and ascorbic acid are found naturally in foods such as fruits, they are “not exactly natural” when used as preservatives, senior author Mathilde Touvier

“Naturally occurring ascorbic acid and added ascorbic acid — which may be chemically manufactured — may have different impacts on health,” said Touvier, who is also director of research at France’s National Institute of Health and Medical Research in Paris.

“Thus, the results observed here for these food additives are not true for natural substances found in fruits and vegetables,” she added.

“There is no food group/item to remove from the diet in order to fix things,” Hasenböhler said in an email. “These results also support the recommendations for consumers to favour non-to-minimally-processed foods.”

Ultraprocessed foods have been linked to an approximately 50% higher risk of cardiovascular disease-related death, and they may boost the risk of obesity by 55%, sleep disorders by 41% and the development of type 2 diabetes by 40%. Obesity, diabetes and poor sleep are closely connected to poor heart health.

    The studies appear linked, too

  • I used to pirate on vhs myself, i figured out how to do it as a kid. I was probably 10 when i started. You didn't point a cam corder at the telly, you just piggybacked two VCRs, and recorded what you hired from the store, or taped from the telly show streaming from the antenna. Either paused at the adds or left it going. They actually appreciate people who used to record the telly shows, now, because back in the day they didn't save anything, they recorded over all those old shows on their big film reels, so some of those old pirated tapes are the only record left. Victimless crime, either way, though.

  • I dunno about Michael Jackson, but he's perfected the drunk uncle at a wedding.

  • I do this, but I've never thought to turn it back on itself and use it to my advantage, pure genius!

  • Greg, the stop sign. Still my favourite.

  • That's privatising the housing system, which will raise prices, though. The only way out of the mess we're in, is building adequate supply of public housing, to compete and push down the prices of the private property market. To achieve affordable stock.

  • It's cosmetic, though. They grandfathered everyone already on it, and just limited the rest, it's not enough to make any changes. They haven't touched capital gains. They're destroying ndis, that'll be another robodebt, and will and is causing deaths. Following everything the US tells us to do, alienating everyone currently against the illegal attacks, and literal war crimes going on. We can look back now and see Howard was committing war crimes along side US. Things haven't changed. Just the more central party has become hard right wing. They're not doing anything of note to make any effect, sadly. I could probably help you find some better reporting on it, than the main stream stuff, if you need?

  • Oh, I'm right there with you, my friend. Emotional immaturity can and does absolutely make personal growth relfection or change, almost impossible. And a hugely toxic and damaging childhood, for any kids involved.

I'm old now, and I'm going to therapy to try and fix some of the deep deep damage, still there. It's had a hand in messing up everything in my life, it's frustrating! The most frustrating thing is, it's built into the foundations, so you don't see it till it pops up in terrible ways. It's like playing whack a mole with a soul infecting virus. I'm focusing really hard on breaking generational traumas being passed down, because they're like that because their needs weren't met, also. My biggest fear is becoming them.

  • Thanks!

  • This is just advertising for them. Why even report on this.

  • Really? I haven't heard much of anything good. What have I missed?

  • Yeah, I had foster fails, I'm looking at their fluffy butts right now. It doesn't hurt as much to give them back to be adopted, when that feeling is compared to the pain of the grief you feel. And it does feel very nice to funnel that grief into something very positive.

  • When they turn it into content and flood your feed with it, for a reason, it sends everyone into perpetual fight or flight, which makes an entire populous easier to control. Learning emotional regulation tools, to get you down outta fight or flight, is an act of resistance, in nowadays time.
