I'm curious about this as well. I have used Libreoffice for years without an issue. My understanding as always been that Microsoft Office products just have more advertising and so many people got/get trained in it that it's just easier then to learn it differently to use LibreOffice software.
I was not aware there was anything missing, other then maybe the cloud. I do know smaller businesses and even some schools who have swapped to LibreOffice but usually overseas, outside the US.
Yeah, I think I am going to setup a VM. I only need it for work due to Windows apps that would work just fine in a VM.
I am actually considering Qubes OS, which might take some work but overall would probably be a good seamless process.
How do you like Pop!_OS? I was looking at System76 computers one day and looked into it a couple years ago. Never gave it a try though, based off Ubuntu right?
That's a good recommendation, I actually did run a windows debloater/spyware before. This just happened to be snuck in with an update I guess? I should probably do it again at this point.
I wouldn't use Windows if I didn't have too...I do run Tails and Ubuntu as well but unfortunately 40hrs+ a week on Windows...it sucks.
Personally, I choose self choice based on my own thoughts and research rather then let anybody else (especially small groups) influence my decisions. I would be much worse off if I followed inline with my family on many different things.
To be honest, you may have a point. I can't think of anything demanding thats within 1 city block from it. A school, some medical places and a gas station is pretty much the only things along it.
Unlimited Memory: How to Use Advanced Learning Strategies to Learn Faster, Remember More and be More Productive - By. Kevin Horsley
This single book has affected my life and improved my day to day life. Although not all useful, it has some very useful tactics.
I don't forget stuff as easily, I can recall better for work, notes are minimal and if I do take notes its one or two word per item. Truly life changing especially while I was a student.
I mean, it's a big comfort thing too. I have zero interest in walking or using public transport in negative temps or 80+ degree weather. I enjoy not struggling to survive a trip.
There is actually a bigger city that spent in the ball park of 500k putting in a miles of a walking/bike path, less then 10 people showed up for it's "grand opening" and it's so unused there isn't even trash or homeless camps. It was dubbed a waste of money.
But I'm not too interested in walking place to place in negative degree or triple degree weather or paying thousands of dollars every year for a rental. Maybe if they made rentals more affordable, it'd make more sense for more people.
I'll continue to pay extra for a large truck. Handling, strength, towing, hauling. I'm positive I'll get mostly downvotes but it doesn't make a difference, I'll still be driving my truck dozens of miles commuting every day! 9-12 MPG, pure diesel baby!
Handling & Enjoyment: I enjoy having something bigger, it handles great.
Strength: It's not gonna total out going thru a fence or hitting a deer. (Confirmed)
Towing, Hauling/Payload: No rentals needed. Summer time fun with the boat, coolers, off roading, camping and so forth. Helpful to friends, saves them a buck. Great for work too. Oh and saving all the smaller cars who got stuck in the winter time, literally saving lives.
I'm in a very small town, we only have a bar. $100/mo for 500mb/s up and down, at least I actually get that though. Rarely is it less, but they also hooked us all up with fiber when they ran the fiber thru the center of the city. Price is also largely because they are literally the only internet provider unless you go with satellite -- which I was considering but with the weather here...probably not ideal.
True, I think that's a great point. I'm sure there are many things that are now considered cringe or scary that were not back in their day. At the time, it was probably a good marketing move, now it's creepy af.
I think clowns would be another example along those lines, less common now because it's more common to be scared of them thanks to movies and so forth.
