  • Wispy knows :)

  • I'm generally a dickhead, so I investigated: Cybertrucks do not have a rain sensor, according to this thread where Cybertruck owners weren't sure which doodad was their rain sensor: https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/is-this-a-rain-sensor.35270/post-30486895

As for car wash mode, you're definitely correct! Most EVs have it, both to activate those quality of life features you mention (because EVs don't natively have a neutral gear), but also to perform very important safety functions related to the vehicle electronics. I imagine, most EVs link those functions to the rain sensor or other moisture sensors as well.

Here's one of the dozens of Cybertrucks that have been destroyed by a $5 touchless wash, LOL: https://www.flyingpenguin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/cybertruck-wash-dead-768x1377.jpg

  • I effing LOVE that there is a Car Wash Mode... because enough water to rinse soap off your car is enough to brick a Cybertruck.

And of course, it's a mode because there is no rain sensor. So it's not like with all the tech and software and apps, it can protect ITSELF from a light spritzing. You need to be constantly on-guard, otherwise your "bulletproof" truck might permanently brick itself because it was exposed to water XD

  • As a Toyota truck owner, can confirm.

  • Kei Kei's delivery service.

I sometimes feel shortchanged as an American (no healthcare, FUUUUCK), but I only get real mad about it when I think about how we don't get Hiluxes and Kei trucks.

  • MFW I say how much

    on the Fediaverse.

  • It's Bill Burr's 21st century and we're all just living in it.

He's crushing it on Star Wars stuff, his comedy is on fucking fire, and weirdly he's one of a small axis of Americans (bad word choice lol) who has the backbone to resist our descent into fascism. I agree with him and I fuckin hate it, bring back buttons, I don't' want to drive an iPad.

  • That's how I pay server costs :)

Feel free to use ad block, doesn't hurt my feelings one bit. AdBlock Plus is still good. I'm shocked to meet a programmer who doesn't already block ads TBH!

  • The odds of a Ram 1500 driver drunk-dialling the number on the popup ad blocking their backup cam is low... but never zero!

  • Pissing match. Elon and Beez are famously pricks to each other. Beez often is an angel investor into any credible threat to Tesla or SpaceX, presumably, because pissing match.

  • That's a very good point. The prior excuses that it was an unintended software glitch, those excuses don't make sense now that it has become obvious that it is an incremental rollout from Jeep to Dodge to Ram trucks. I'll update that, good idea!

  • The Ram 1500 is the official car of "more than one, but not so many they take your license away" -- both DUIs and beers before going to work.

  • That's the other "Remind me later" button

  • Oh, RIGHT, that XD

  • I've been thinking about exactly this... you could probably get an apples to apples comparison, by comparing only a specific model year.

IE, how did every 2023 car perform in the year 2024? Then, parse that by the vehicle's price, or maybe by its propulsion type, maybe both. THAT would be how an honest study of the question would go.

Of course, Tesla knows that, they can afford really great data scientists. Makes you wonder why they run their obviously flawed safety study instead.

  • "It broke the test equipment" is not NEARLY the clapback Elon thinks it is. That's actually really bad, and probably demonstrates the lethality of the vehicle (it's just too heavy)

Also I love your username, show me the lie

  • My helmet has a radar in it. Like, why the fuck not, toss two in there

  • No way, the company leadership that gave us MechaHitler would never skimp on Q/A or safety guardrails for their AI products.
