Each and every one of the creatures we descended from, stretching all the way back to the beginning of life on Earth, has survived by killing before being killed. We are the final product of a string of millions of killers.

  • Nope

  • ph{#%${%&+'${`%&NO CARRIER

  • I'm interested in hearing more about the Lemmy cycle thing that's annoying you. If you're willing, what happened? I joined lemmy.world and haven't ventured anywhere else yet.

  • If I'm sick of something, I don't quit, I change direction.

  • Pardon my ignorance. How does on3i join this from lemmy? The link just brings me to the kbin website and asks me to login.

  • So I just tried this, on Android. Yes it is pretty nice. Wish it would do plain .txt files too. Or even source code and syntaxes highlighting for different file types. Limited to just MD files sucks. Not really interested in the whole "canvas" thing. UI is a bit clunky on Android, but not terrible.

Currently using Acode front F-Droid for Android, which addresses the issues named above. And it's FOSS, which Obsidian is not.

  • It is said men have two (2) deaths. The first is physical. The second is when your influence in the world is no longer felt and your name has been spoken for the very last time.

As the great author Terry Pratchet has proclaimed, "No one is actually dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away..."

So it is in that vein in which my use of the word "immortal" was intended. Immortal was used in a purposefully exaggerated way to impress upon the reader the great significance and glory of the discoverer in making such a discovery.

My comment was intended in a poetic light, rather than logically or scientifically.

  • Ah yes. Heard it from them too, quite often.

  • I guess that's one of the selling points on how Jack will make money. Get a small percentage as a fee for each micro payment. I guess that's their revenue model instead of advertisers. It makes sense to not be beholden to the whims of advertisers perception potential market loss (i.e., censor things or lose revenue). But like you, I'm totally not into the crypto thing.

  • Adguard. It was cheap and works well. System wide. Haven't seen an ad on a website or game/app in years.

  • If I have enough PTO saved up, I'll take "mental health days". It's none of the employers business why you take it if they offer PTO accrual as a benefit. I just email my lead either the night before or in the morning saying "I'll be out today". Period. No more and no less. No excuses. No rational. I earned it; it's mine; I'm using it, that's it.

So I don't have to be so sick that I can't get out of bed. Or a fever. If I'm feeling under the weather and I have the time, I'll take it. I do that instead of taking a solid 2 week vacation at one time during the year.

  • If it was anthrax I wonder if they'd have been able to figure it out. That's scary.

  • Hi, I'm not in in the know. What's a tankie? Pardon my ignorance.

  • 3.2 to 5 liters a day. Hope I did that calculation correctly.

  • You got your linen bed sheets at a fabric store? Maybe I'll take a trip to my local fabric store and see if I can feel them. Agreed about the wash thing. That's why I'm sticking it out, hoping they get softer over time.

  • I just bought bed linens for the first time. It is really breathable but a but scratchy so far.
