  • That's usually the case, as electric vehicles don't pay taxes on gas which is used for roads. Basically a system to make people who drive pay for the roads (and people who drive more will pay more as well).

  • Sure, I guess in a general sense. If it was more direct I'm not sure how that would toll on me, if I would be unable to sleep because I'm worried someone is going to break in my home and hurt me or my loved ones. And it's not like there public servants have much of a choice, either they follow along with the corruption, get fired, or resign. There isn't an outcome where they stay and make a change for the better within the system.

  • Hard disagree, the difference between "Congress shall make no law... abridging the freedom of speech... or the right of the people peaceably to assemble..." and "well regulated militia" is night and day. If they wanted to regulate this conduct they have a lot of hurdles to go through. For example if they wanted to ban the display of flags, you would need to either show it doesn't impact speech (it does) or get over the strict scrutiny standard which is famously difficult to overcome. Also it needs to be written by congress or a more local form of government, not at the wims of a president.

  • All Google would have to do is check what key an app is using on a user's device and they can invalidate it. Someone made a youtube vanced 2 (not revanced)? Google can easily invalidate it for everyone using this process.

    Even if I misunderstand how the key works and it's more of a signature, it would mean that if you try to download an older app then it could fail bc the signature expired and isn't maintained anymore. You also run into the same issue with not being renewed if Google chooses.

    My point is it could effectively be a side loading killer, maybe not right away but the point of sideloading is the independence which this takes away

  • The fact that several species in Australia are now extinct kinda shows cats do harm bird populations. Cats are usually an invasive species and hundreds of them in an area can decimate local wildlife. Overcrowding only kill birds when there are too many, while cats will always kill birds. There are definitely places where it matters more, like on small islands, but in general any invasive species can massively shift ecosystems.
