  • So you really think the main reason the films you are watching are "worse" is because of affirmative action?

  • So, I dont wanna dish on anybody, but no wonder movies lately have been feeling off, heartless, rehashed, and generally underwelming…

Because they have too many minorities...? Is that what you're suggesting?

  • Seems to be quite consistent with the theory that they are yet to form a reliable voting bloc. The largest, or at least the most vocal, in their confederation seems to be MAGA-influenced racists, but there are all kinds of things that draw people to an anti-establishment protest party which is probably part of the reason they have suffered from infighting in the past.

  • Yes, I think the focus on "Trump's America" is a bit short-sighted.

  • I'm sure it has been discussed several times previously (maybe search in relation to Coles if you'd like to read previous threads), not that I am against it coming up again.

  • "Wellness" is an instant red flag.

  • That's why it's called a strike, I guess.

  • Pretty much. On our current trajectory, the quality of life for future generations will be significantly reduced and will only continue to worsen. It has never made sense to me to bring children into such a world.

  • Your theory hinges on the premise that the only adults children can learn anything from are their biological parents, which is completely false.

  • I'm not sure if you looked at some of the other replies in the thread, but in this instance it was a live broadcast which has ad breaks. OP is paying for the ad-free tier, so instead of ads they had a black screen during the break. To describe this as Netflix "adding unskippable ads on premium plan" is just wrong, there are literally no ads being displayed.

  • I agree with you, but to play devil's advocate:

People are spending more of their lives than ever glued to these devices. Every part of their life is intertwined with it now, they're basically inseparable. In that context, does it not make sense that they spend large amounts of money ensuring they have the perfect device for them?

  • Putting rugged in the headline when there is basically no explanation of why that term applies to this phone and it just looks like a normal phone is very stupid.

  • There's a very detailed American politics podcast here in Australia called PEP that covered the conspiracy theories in their most recent episode. I thought you might be interested in watching. The main section starts from here (I've timestamped the link for you), but there's also some earlier discussion about conspiracy theories as well as just the incident in general that also might be of interest/useful context.

  • Wrong thread?

  • This is still just about hypervisor, the title is just clickbaity to make it sound like something new has come out.

  • This is just a very late report on the hypervisor thing, it sounds like nothing new has been discovered.

  • A sad consequence of them retreating to spaces like Lemmy and Bluesky and cocooning themselves from any dissenting opinion.

  • Destabilising the US from within creates domestic pressure that affect its ability to lead on the global stage, creating space and opportunity for aspiring superpowers like Russia and China to influence and shape the world. It also undermines the trust of US allies and partners.
