  • Yeah.. How much do we trust the Dems to fire that second shell?

  • Let's see if Trump will succeed in getting a foetus on the bench.

  • Basically, each half of the peninsula wanted to absorb the other half under it's legal, monetary and language and naming systems. Both halves wanted a reunification under their terms. Both halves believe they are the real Korea. To the south, the northern states a rebel states. To the north the southern states are capitalistic pig-dogs in hock to the USA.

New approaches from the south is looking to reconciliation and respecting the north's self determination.

With that summary of my understanding of this article out the way, maybe a model for their relations is the devolved UK.

While I think a, devolved union is better for the world, it can't be under a reactionary dictatorship. I fear this red line is too much for each side to come to agreement on.

  • Except this terrorist has a bomb vest and is willing to take the whole world with him.

  • Citizens need something concrete to rally around. Protests that are ignored breeds apathy. I would be one thing if there was an alternative to the uniparty. Have you heard the tale of the three boxes?

  • "TACO Tuesday". One can only hope. The alternative is ghastly.

  • While I don't posit that China is uniquely awful here are some low lights:

    • The oppression of the Uyghur Muslims
    • The invasion of Tibet
    • The threatened annexation of Taiwan
    • The Tiananmen Square massacre. Shall I go on?
  • I wonder if there is any inherent defence against slop on Lemmy. I guess if an instance doesn't prune it's user base of bots, shills and other slop merchants, it could be black listed by other admins of other instances.

  • Tucker Carlson is an op. And a stalking horse for President. He plays the game just like they all do.

  • You're right. If you are gonna do a ground invasion you really need to go in force. 5k is a suicide mission.

  • But as we know, for a large contingent of Israelis their ancestral link is Europe. And many are dual citizens. So, someone is swinging the

go back to where you come from

then that would be Europe. Arguably the Palestinians have deeper routes in The Lavant. With many of their ancestors being Israeli Jews before the majority converted to Islam.

  • This recent rise may also be due to the current US administration forgetting to stockpile petroleum before going to war.

  • It could just be an added benefit...

  • Not saying he wouldn't, but isn't Marshal Law part of the insurrection act? In any case, a foreign attack on a nation shouldn't be justification enough for an action of internal oppression. Again, I'm talking about a rational administration, here, not an autocratic dictatorship.

  • Trump can raise all the executive orders he wants. He just doesn't have jurisdiction on how states run their elections.

This doesn't mean he can't cause trouble, though. For instance, maybe he can just order the USPS to not deliver ballot mail. Or worse, open it an substitute the ballot inside to one that's much more favourable to him.

Obviously, if he does that the US can kiss goodbye to being a representative democracy.

  • Even if this is true, and I make no comment on that, you may very well be correct. Without further laws/treaties bidding ≠ selecting. I assume one of the criteria is the company's fitness.

The train operators should recognise that they are in a bit of a monopsony, here.

  • Looking at the requested penalty makes me wonder why they didn't request one trillion. I mean if you are being blatant about your ulterior motive to scare off further investigation into your unethical practices.

Anyway they now got the stink on them. Any railway operator dealing with them will have no one but themselves to blame going forward.

  • I think the tariff situation is more subtle than you are letting on. Basically, Trump is now on the clock were previously he wasn't. He will now be forced to go to congress to ratify this increase.

  • Trouble is, the payment may not always be in currency. Reciprocity pays almost as good. And after the next UK election, she figures that she'll be in a position to make good.
