So you're arguing that systemd shouldn't have reverted that pointless PR because it's not actually enforced? Sorry, I'm probably not understanding your comment
This feels like whataboutism, especially if the poster is American. I'm Canadian and I mainly criticize Canada/US/Israel, because that's the empire I'm a citizen of.
I go around installing solutions on my friends and family's phones and TVs (ad-free YouTube clients, stremio, etc) and I fucking hate it when they use the official ones out of habit. Like I didn't just do this for your convenience, this is mainly anti-advertisement activism. I fucking hate ads
It's not for me either. I did hear that he endorsed the left wing(socialist iirc) party in the last Puerto Rico election, and obviously has been very vocally anti-ICE, so I'll take it.
I find that when people use this term I get suspicious. It could be used to describe authoritarian Stalinists, Maoists, Marxist-Leninists, or just communists/socialists in general. I wish that posters would be more specific, because everyone and their mother has a different definition of "tanky". It often comes across as a thought-terminator. I'm not up to speed on the Lemmy beef, so I have no idea who's right, but I've seen like 10 posts about tankies and none of them really defined the term, which is very frustrating.
In what way is installing from the play store fundamentally different? Just because it was preloaded on your phone? What if F droid was preloaded on your phone instead? Is it still sideloading? Google's logic breaks down pretty quickly when you think about it
What would you get instead? I think if Google actually follows through with this, I'll switch to LineageOS, which is still Android. Obviously, iOS is much worse on this front.
