  • Eddy, i'm gona go for phone a friend.

  • Fuckin dronk that drink!! DO IT!!

  • Shorts was a large reason why i stopped watching YouTube, not the only one, but a big part.

  • Democracy in the workplace, or even just civic engagement in the workplace. A large part of the problem with those silicon valley tech billionaires, like many other company directors, is they live that work part of their lives as mini dictators, while the rest do all they can to support that person.

Talk about inefficencies, spending your time on what the boss suddenly brain farts out and not what is actually good for the company is an inefficiency all those Instagram Business Bros twnd to overlook.

  • Downvoted! I'm diggin my trench!

The mix of fatty butter with the acidic sauce, all heated up by the fresh snag! Its the best combo! Mouth watering!

  • Surely it is.

  • This has kind of happened in reality. Is this a coincidence or a specific reference to it?

The below image is a famous Australian snap of two politicians smoking a cigar after delivering one of the least popular budgets (big political moment in Aus each year) in living memory. Left is Matthias Corman, Right is Joe Hockey.

  • I's fully expecting to read they'd taken out a bunch of those sail tiles.

  • Not sure I followed this..

  • This is an interesting analogy. So in your scenario Lemmy World is like a Pub (Public House) where any bludger can mosey on down to 'warm their toes' with a little socialising.

To get creative we'd name Lemmy World, The Lemmy Worlds End, an ever popular name for a pub.

My server, being Aussie zone, is like Mercury, a centimetre from the sun ;)

And your server is probably like Yosemite National Park or something.

Yeah, I like that frame. I think I'll incorporate that into how I talk about the fediverse. Might need to polish my examples a bit more though. 😆

  • Does it matter at this point? I feel like Aus won long ago.

We've stolen like 700,000 of them... like people.. literally warm blooded kiwis, here just hanging around. Don't know what for. Looking for more dishes to claim sovereignty over I guess, probably working or something to fill in the time.

Talking about sovereign risk these days.. hooli dooli these Silver Ferns are into the lot over here!

/most of this is a joke. 700,000 numbers about right though

  • Bbq Sausage, not a frankfurt, slice of buttered white bread, a yes/no on the onions, choice of tomato/bbq/mustard sauce.

    Bobs your uncle!

It ain't fancy but its cheap!

  • Hahaha!!! Oh to be a fly on the wall in your lunch room! 😆😆

I've generally found it difficult to communicate why the fediverse, or even the social web is better than these walled gardens run by private companies. I think a lot of people haven't had a motivating moment to shift. I's always skeptical of fb, never really liked the set up, so i suppose i hadn't had the same investment into the account like others.

Although I gave up Youtube also, and I used that a lot more. But that was more a 'viewing' account, rather than social media communication. So different reasons driving that I think.

  • I guess most people are. I am to a degree, but only with family private message chats. That network effect is like cement. So theres not much chance for someone like me to talk about the fediverse on other aocial media. Maybe this experience is common. I think there was a post asking about this the other day that gor pretty high up the 'All' feed.

  • Sorry, this is a screed.

Read part of it, lots of claims with few sources. Maybe its better to focus on fewer parts at a time with better sourcing. Maybe across a series of posts which are explicitly linked.

If its aimed at Hanson then maybe they could be named Red Earth to Hanson, Part: n

As this post has come out, its fairly un-readable, with so many claims that would require checking, and then evaluating if theres another reading of those claims, etc. I'm not saying theres any false claims in there btw, none stood out to me, but theres claim after claim with little sourcing and in an out of context, abstracted form. Context around data and details is important.

I think the post, the length and lack of context of details undermines a broader message you're trying to communicate. But it could be the start of something substantial.

  • Yeah, i've had a similar experience. Even with those friends running their own servers seem to have a lack of awareness. Considering the strength of the Linux and Foss communities here i'm surprised more information hasn't crossed over into other forums.

  • Placement of the events page is wonderfully hard. A lot of effort must have been spent making that very unidentifiable.

I guess thats a "wow! How did they do that?" Moment for me.

  • I think awareness of the Fediverse, or the social web, is much lower than the people involved would assume. I'd think people in tech would have a greater awareness, but maybe thats not even a true assumption.

  • This is why I posted it. One of these envoys is not treated like the other. And the difference is exceedingly noticeable.
