We don't though. If you live near one, you might be a bit spooked for a few weeks or months, but eventually, it goes away and you stop thinking about it.
They do hate when Uber does it, but they already let the taxi companies with regulations die, so they don't have a choice if they want that type of service.
To me, it's not the AI data that's the issue. It's reddit, effectively, turning off all of the API, then selling the data they aren't producing themselves. I think if any instance owner told their users they were going to start selling things that were posted to their instance, their users would find other places in the fediverse to set up shop.

I think my phone was around $1200 when I bought it, so, for me, this is low priced.
