  • Just a friendly correction: we currently are in an ice age. You're thinking of the next glaciation. The confusion is understandable because you are using that term exactly how it's generally used by lay people, but I think the distinction is important, especially as we're thinking of long term natural history and understanding climate science.

  • La collecte des matières organiques a toujours continué à chaque semaine.

    C'est vrai que les couches et litières vont dans les ordures. Je l'ai connu, les couches dans les ordures ramassées aux deux senaines en temps de canicule. Oui, il y avait des asticots, mais je vivais avec en me disant que ça va passer. Mais les conditions dans ton voisinage sont probablement pires, notamment avec tes boisins qui mettent leurs matières organiques dans les ordures. Il faut faire des améliorations pour qu'on puisse progresser en matière de tri des résidus domestiques.

    Euh, non. Ils s'attendent à ce que les gens jettent leurs matières organiques dans le bac brun plutôt que dans les ordures. C'était le but du changement d'horaire de collecte.

Dans un contexte où une action individuelle (jeter ses matières organiques à la poubelle) a un effet collectif (tout le monde subit les mouches) et où l'individu n'est pas responsabilisé, le fait que les ordures soient ramassées moins souvent ne fait que rendre les choses plus pénibles pour tous sans changer les comportements ou très peu.

  • I read up a bit about AIPAC, and yes, it's true that as far as we can tell, at least since 1954, there's no direct funding by Israel (couldn't find a reliable source concerning the claim of clandestine direct funding of AZC by Israel, so it might never have been the case). But there's a lot of collaboration between Israel and AIPAC. So, in a way, Israel does influences the US, but it's entirely thanks to US citizens happy to help them. It's not clear to me why they are happy to.
