  • I was VERY skeptical of watching this video when it was suggested to me, is it worth watching bc I absolutely will if it’s even slightly more based than expected. I was anticipating stuff like “actually he didn’t give a shit about communism, he was a sTaLiniSt” but lmk if it’s actually cool. After reading Anarchism or Socialism, I have ZERO patience for anyone disrespecting Stalin.

  • Truth be told, (cringe moment upcoming, prepare yourself) I may have stopped doing it bc COVID started and we stopped going to school, or I was unofficially peer-pressured out of it because of what you mentioned, basically like 2-3 people out of 20-25 would actually stand for it. It’s been like 5 or 6 years since I did it so I don’t remember but yea it was a “symbol of rebellion” for me as a lib bc we had Trump as president and I wanted to be all “I love America even if I don’t love Trump” but nowadays I just cringe and pretend that never happened

  • As an American, I absolutely believe we should change the national anthem to “Take Me Out To The Ballgame”, more people know the lyrics, it relates more to the American experience than the actual anthem and it’s more catchy. I can’t see any other suggestions that fit this criteria more

  • I’m sorry for commenting on this very late (I’ve been on Reddit ever since I got my new phone, mostly on The Deprogram and GTAIV subreddits, and finally got perma-banned again. As much as I miss commenting and posting on Reddit, I miss Lemmygrad SOOOO much more.) but I can’t agree more. I went to Community College and (long story short) it was pretty awful for my mental health, so I have stayed away from Community College. I’m more than happy to learn to be an electrician if it means I don’t have to write essays lol (I basically already wrote one considering how long this comment is)

  • I actually read that as a Poem in HS. We had to recite a sonnet (I think) for some State-wide competition. And I read America by Claude McKay for my class when they had the qualifers. I may hate PatSoc personally personally but I love that poem. It’s about how evil and cruel America was to Black people but Claude McKay still wanted to hold out for a better future and love America. Keep in mind I was a lib back then and under a Trump presidency I felt that. I loved the USA and was very patriotic despite my hatred of Truml. When I won best in class, I was told to choose a similar but different poem. I chose this Lenin poem, and I had to perform it in front of some stuffy assholes and of course they didn’t want a poem about Lenin. So for a few months I was a bit sad that I did my best in the recital and didn’t even qualify for State, but over time I realized it was less about my recital and a LOT more about the content of the poem. It’s a shame that they do that to people who are clearly interested in poetry in an age where that’s far from commonplace smh
