Engineer. Retro console modder. Pen and watch enthusiast.

  • I remember getting a USB 2.0 PCMCIA card for my laptop to use my enormous external DVD drive. The only DVDs I had at the time were X-Men, Star Wars Episode 1, and Nothing But Trouble.

  • As an engineer, I suppose I should be offended by this. But I realize that it is based on "emotions," a type of internal sensory experience some humans have on a daily basis. This is not logical, and shall be disregarded. End statement.

  • Awesome. I love Mint. I might try LMDE at some point here, but I have everything just how I like it now.

  • For about a week, I had my coworker's face as my cursor. Just because I could. I wanted to see how long it would take people to notice. I share my screen a lot. I was surprised it took that long.

  • After downloading tons of them, and trying them out on various computers over a range of screen sizes and resolutions, and also considering what fits with the vibe of my theming, I have ended up with Breeze. Pretty basic, but I love it. I have to use Windows at work, and got Breeze on there as well.

  • Even if it is feasible, I still encounter twice as many people as I want to on a daily basis. I want to live on Solaria, from Isaac Asimov's The Naked Sun.

  • I love this every time I see it. I don't know why, but "Have you had your hearing tested lately?" cracks me up every single time.

  • OK, here is one. The trolley is on a hill. Attached to an indestructible cable. Pulling the lever will cause the cable to pull it back up the hill. This takes 30 minutes, then the lever will need to be pulled again. You can call for help, but will take 3 days for them to get there. If you leave, no one will know you were there. What do you do?

  • I always tell my wife that if they found a secret warehouse full of old Aztek parts and pumped some new ones out, I'd get one on the spot. I loved that car.

  • Nothing's free in Waterworld.

  • I guess I need to. My last laptop came with Vista.

  • Costing about the same? $700? That is still more than I'd want to pay for those. Am I just cheap? Is that what laptops cost now?

  • Basically a three step process.

    1.) Ingest caffeine.

2.) Put on Highway Star by Deep Purple. Big headphones to drown out distractions.

3.) Take a couple breaths to focus, then buckle in for the ride

  • This one I can see variation on. I typically shoe > tie > shoe > tie, but I can see the merits of your way.

  • Even so, I will sock, step on shoe, sock, put on shoe, put on other shoe. I would never, in any imaginable circumstance, have a sock and shoe on one foot while the other is bare. That is just insanity.

  • My usual MO is getting things when they are discontinued. And cheap. Turbografx, Sega Saturn, Virtual Boy, Game.Com. I have them all. Virtual Boy was $20 at Target.

The only time I got something when it came out was the Gameboy Advance. But I pre-ordered it. No camping, just went in and picked it up.

I got the PS2 for Christmas the year it came out, but it was out for almost 2 months at that point, plus it was a gift, so I didn't have to camp for that either. I still love that thing.

  • I wonder what those are like compared to the Retro Fighters Brawler 64.

  • "Wtf. How did this get past sponsorblock?"

  • I've heard of furries. I've heard of scalies. What would you call a frog person? A slimy?
