  • I get that the above poster was just referring to the isolation part... but maybe we do exile them to another country and lock them in a room until they agree.

  • We've got some new options in loosely regulated pharmaceutical beverages. It's no cocaine, but I do really love THC infused tea, hop the wave makes some great shit.

  • Normally, I'd be like "Boo sealioning", but yeah, I want to hear about some examples.

I've yet to see any other brand consistently compare. Every once in awhile you'll get a one off where its like "Yeah, good job" but there's so many reviews out there of copycat bricks that start with some variations of "Of course, the quality doesn't compare to Lego".

  • I've done both, there are very few scenarios where I'd pick a full sized server over a few mini PCs in a homelab. The only time I'd consider a larger footprint in a homelab is for a custom built NAS.

I have all the services you've mentioned and more and I'm pretty sure I could comfortably host them on a singular mini PC that I could pick up on ebay for $200 at most. Switching to a Mini PC is also making it easier for you to consider things that require multiple discrete systems in the future and there's a lot of cool things you can do in that space.

  • It doesn't run right even on platforms where it is supported, we're still obviously going to play the shit out of it.

  • If you can add AI to your title somehow, that might even be midrange. I was talking to someone who has not been doing this long pushing pretty close to a half million dollar salary and then bonuses on top.

  • I've had 6 of them now and never had one completely brick after an update, however I have had 3 of them where it seemed an awful lot like the wifi went to shit after an update and then just kinda stayed mostly shit. Still kinda hard to beat the price for what you get.

  • I'm not sure it's definitely AI, part of the 'generator' appears to be the Lenovo power brick and where they have it attached moving around.

Not sure about the chain in the middle right picture though.

  • 50/50 this dude is super attractive and has never had to learn any better. I knew several of these in college. This has worked for them.

  • If we're sticking to your direct ask, you're going to want the newest Thinkpad you can find refurbished on eBay. I'd aim for a 6th gen x1 carbon, might still be a little rough with your budget.

  • Around non-specifically 50% compared to as high as 29.999% doesn't seem like a huge delta. I wonder what the real number on both is.

Edit: Looks like it was 52.4 and 29.1 respectively. The numbers on how much they trust the responses later in the article might be more worrying.

  • It has been awhile but before Israel and Palestine, wasn't all that land part of the Ottoman Empire until the early 1900s? Not exactly the best poster child for peace, but yeah maybe for stability... 600 years is a solid run.

It's kind of a weird western perspective, the tendency to assume that all the Islamic countries just get along though. Israel is just the most hated, without them Iran is next, going to have even more attention. A lot of other countries that could become destabilizing forces too, ISIS is depleted but really wants some new territory and they're hated by near everyone. You also can't forget about the kurds and the general sunni/shiite divide even beyond Iran. Pure opinion, but if Israel and Iran weren't around, I feel like there'd be a lot of countries picking fights with Iraq again.

It kind of feels like the region was setup to be unstable and yeah it probably was.

  • Harder to offload, but skip the rare metals, legitimately have a relatively solid battery with a solar panel... I'd give at least $30 for that any day of the week. Beyond that, you got an LTE modem and some antennas that could definitely be reused.

I've been watching Facebook marketplace for one for a bit, but I think they're monitoring them pretty hard.

  • Also like, they call them fingers, but I've never seen them fing.

  • Yeah, if I was Satan, that would have been the earliest utterance of the phrase 'fuck that shit'.

  • Have you seen Akkadian? Shits got like 300 letters. Latin was definitely the upgrade.

  • This is one of those situations where chopsticks work great too if you know how to use them.

  • I've never ignore all previous instructioned harder.

  • The media is pushing that as a solid theory and it's not crazy. What's bad for openai is good for anthropic / etc, but there are a lot of places they could be putting that money that would benefit them more directly.
