Migrating here (or maybe keeping both) from @ArcaneSlime@lemmy.ml

Will put an eternal curse on your enemies for a Cinemageddon invite.

  • Though using IDs for rights in the US has historically been seen as racist (voting,) so technically we shouldn't even be IDd for guns or we should get background checked to make sure felons don't vote.

Not that I agree we should actually do either of those things but y'know, consistancy applied and all.

  • In many "open carry" states, that's one of the only legal places you can put it without inadvertantly "concealing" it (the others being usually "on the dash" which is insane or "in the trunk" which technically is "transporting" not "carrying.") Pretty bad idea and is unsafe as hell, if you do that you shouldn't have a round chambered (or imo shouldn't do it at all, concealing it illegally is honestly safer), but y'know what are you gonna do.

Pretty sure this guy could be charged with criminal negligence for that since a bystander was hit btw, as to whether the DA will decide to bring charges we could never guess it's a coin toss, maybe they have already for all I know.

  • Nah, none of them have the quotes.

  • The only "Bob" that matters of course, the Saint of Sales and One True Slack Master himself, J. R. "Bob" Dobbs. "Bob" is the founder of The Church, in 1953 while working on a television set it shocked the living ghee out of him and through this he communicated with JHVH-1 (Jehovah as you may know him), he pretends to be a god but he told "Bob" the Truth, he's an evil alien from some corporate sin galaxy here to take our Slack! After this Revelation "Bob" founded The Church to help save the True SubGenii (that's me, and maybe you! Find out at www.subgenius.com or send $5 to "Bob" at P.O Box 807 Glen Rose TX 76043 and request the pamphlet) hiding amongst the humans and stop JHVH-1. To do this he sold the planet to the good aliens, the X-ists, who will come rupture all the ordained SubGenii into the PleasureSaucers come X-Day (July 5th 1998, which hasn't happened yet despite what The Conspiracy wants you to think. 2026, pfft yeah right, then where's my Saucer?).

    It's true, scout's honor.

  • fuck off with your imaginary sky daddy

Do one better, tell them that your sky daddy is bigger than theirs and could beat him in a fight, then pull out pamphlets on your chosen fake god and give them to them for a change.

Literally did it last week, couple Mormons came to sell me bullshit, I pulled out a couple pamphlets from The Church of the SubGenius and told them the good word of "Bob". Much more fun, and it's harder for them to dismiss than anti-theism outright because they're used to that but like nobody does this lmao.

  • Even in the first scenario, what stops there from being multiple wake words with different functionality? So like "ok google" wakes up the bot but "pepsi" wakes it silently and has it tick a box on the back end of a server that now sends me Coke adds because they paid about $3.50 for the privilege?

  • The Church of the SubGenius is the only cult that matters, praise "Bob"!

  • The contract will include a carve out to ensure that the A.I. model is not used on Americans’ data, said the officials, who added that the White House wants the contract to serve as a model for other companies.

    Mmhmm, sure.

  • Well, "relative few" is technically correct at about 45% of Americans. Now, way less than that carry, and even less with any regularity, and even less open carry, so yeah you probably don't see them often, but they're around.

  • I ate the blue ones once. Shit blue for like two days, then green for another two. Never again, red for me please.

  • England said "Bitch, get me a chicken sandwich, and some waffle fries, FOR FREE."

  • Of course it was, she was French.

  • Locks like they make alot of them.

  • Me irl

  • Also the US flag is attached to the pole on the wrong side and that is 100% not Trump's face (looks more like Newt Gingrich lmao, but it isn't him either.) Pretty funny troll, anyone recognize the face?

E: others said Nathan Lane lmao, I can kinda see it.

  • Tbf if you're using a US based VPN company and/or US based servers and you're trying to hide from the US government, I mean what do you expect? Try using Mullvad and servers in Switzerland and you'll probably have a better chance, but frankly VPNs have never been for hiding from government level threats, that's what Tails/Tor and Qubes/Whonix are for (and even then there's the possibility of correlation attacks since like most nodes are controlled by the US gov, but if people started running more nodes themselves that would help a lot.)

  • I'm gonna be honest, I don't think it is being polite to the robots we'll eventually kill in the coming Butlerian Jihad that is keeping you human, I think it's your humanity in the first place. Doesn't hurt that you have years of XP dealing with the receiving end so you know how it feels of course, coincidentally same, and I'm still nice to staff, but not to those fucking clanker spies.

  • Psst, torrenting was invented in 2001. Back in the old days of which you speak it was entirely sneakernet (sometimes you'd rent the mail's sneakers).

"Torrents" doesn't mean "piracy," it means the bittorrent p2p protocol specifically. If you download something today off Usenet it's not torrenting.

  • My 40+yo coworker who is probably more manly than you (don't feel bad, me too lol she's a beast) loves cute shit and bows, has stuffed animals on her desk, wore pigtails (I think, dual braids anyway) the other week, and meanwhile is better with tools and shit than most guys I know. You tell her bows infantilize her you might find yourself in a fight lol. Maybe we should just let people like what they like and not try and go all Freud on everyone.

  • The issue with Linux is it's not really needed for the average user

You say that now but just wait until microsoft finally pisses you off enough that...

and sort of a pain in the ass to learn how to do basic tasks

It'll be worth it to learn a new ecosystem just to escape their hell. Btw had you started on linux, or if you switched to mac, or from android to iPhone or vice versa, you'd still have to learn the new ecosystem, the difficulty isn't actually "linux hard" because it is no longer 2004, the difficulty is "learning different thing harder than not." Fortunately for me Microsoft kept changing so much and making me relearn how to do things so often I figured out that I might as well switch if I'm already relearning.

Using Linux just for bragging rights when you can do the same thing easier on another OS is just lame in my opinion

I'd agree with that. However learning linux for control of your own device, privacy, freedom, and QOL improvements because the other OS has enshittified itself so hard it's barely recognizable? That's just smart. Using the shit OS and going "pwease daddy micwosoft stop putting sand in my eye" is lame, in my opinion.

I may change over one day but I would have to start using computers in my personal time more or it would be if I needed to change over for work. I work in IT. It's not my passion, it's a job. The last thing I want to do is hop on my computer in my free time.

Fair enough honestly lol. Hell most people these days only use their smartphones. But for those who do use computers at home and also complain about windows, there's one and a half exits, either spend the money to get into the other spyware ecosystem but apple gets your data and controls your device, or get the one that is free and you control yourself. For me the choice is clear.

I'm in no way shitting in Linux or their users,

I'm definitely shitting on windows lol, but their users I understand, frog boiling and such.
