  • I think context as always matters when looking at things. Generalising things at seeking easy truths is when we leave out the nuances and these matter. Let's focus for example on what I said vs what I didn't say. I didn't say a person exercising free speech is a problem, I said the person had ties with Russian state propaganda.     Your next point, after indicating generalizing all Germans are the same, was that I said this person(and all persons) doesn't deserve human rights, vs what I actually said, they should have an indictment, where they would have a chance to appeal against.

    The person seems heavily bound with Russian desinformation, ties with RT, and foreign letterbox company, to circumvent sanctions. Then got caught in the consequences of the freezing of Russian assets after the Ukraine war.

    I doubt this person is as innocent as your meme makes them out to be so let's differentiate please.

  • I can't get past the train in alyx after getting the gun, I crash on the loading screen. I tried both bazzite and cachOS with the same result. Getting it to even run is always a hassle too and feels like it comes down to luck if it runs or not. Multiple components seem to fail at random either it doesn't launch or the headset stays black, or I can't get the game to run and stay in the cloudy sky or the room scale messes up and I'm half stuck in the floor. The whole experience is awful even though I really want to enjoy VR. I got myself a really beefy pc with a 9800x3d and a 7900xtx so I hoped not having to struggle with nvidia drivers would make things easier but I'm at a loss what to even try anymore or if its worth it.

  • Your specs aren't too far outside of the recommended specs on the steam page, for you to only get 10-20fps. Are you sure your monitor is connected to the GPU?

  • I treat it mostly the same I treat games on linux, if your game doesn't run, because of spyware-like DRM, looking at you EA, then I guess it's not for me. Play integrity api is the same in that regard.

    Had to switch my mom to a PWA for one of her apps though.

  • Unfortunately the trend is that those apps usually require play integrity api https://grapheneos.org/articles/attestation-compatibility-guide#apps-banning-grapheneos which requires that the app is running on a verified android(stock) device and custom ROMs can't run it same for waydroid.

  • I get your frustration with recent mozilla actions, but I don't think this one deserves it. For one your point seems like whataboutism. Secondly If you heard about Cambridge analytica it should be clear how much those algorithms shape our lives. It would be good to know for me if those algorithms are really just boring algorithms or if they are shaped by some political or company agenda.

  • Agreed. Google just didn't consent to you getting an app without ads. My hope is maybe we can circumvent it for a while with PWA or browser website bookmarks. Maybe long enough for alternatives to arrive or consumer protection to kick in. I refuse to give up hope even though I might need to abandon android. For now I guess I will just not buy another phone since androids time seems limited. Really hard to find something to recommend to family and friends that just works. My goto grapheneOS also seems more and more cut down with more and more apps refusing to work outside play store downloads or refusing to work on 3rd party OS.

  • Thank you for these links they are fantastic! I was aware of the procedural lock in via play integrity services and also the lockdown on side loading so that didn't get past me, but I wasn't aware google also wants to alienate developers now by requiring ID. It seems to me google want to now fully commercialize the platform, transforming it into the ad infested network that web2+3.0 already became. I think their plan, by alienating non commercial devs, is that all apps will run on their ad models and non without them will be left.
