  • Yeah, its more like how sometimes words will randomly appear when you stir your alphabet soup.

  • Don't forget velocity; mass, density, materials, shape and fragmentation characteristics of the projectile!

  • If you prompted the soiled flag, that was a nice touch in your three seconds.

  • That's true yes, but potentially even more impactful is that the Pacific coast of the USA is essentially independent of the rest of the country's petroleum production and distribution. The Sierras and Cascades historically made overland distribution difficult and expensive, and maritime distribution from elsewhere in the country is also difficult because of geography (gotta do Panama canal or a long haul around South America). Because of these realities, petroleum extraction, refining and distribution in the west developed seperately and even today operate mostly independently - while technical solutions are now plausible, regulatory issues and moneyed interests that prefer the status quo continue to prevent development.

  • To imagine an IBM 5150 Personal Computer with 5151 monochrome display running a GUI operating system with desktop. Preposterous!

  • Right you are, Ken.

  • I needed a replacement for an item hat failed under warranty. The original part was made in Canada, and a replacement was mailed to me free of charge. Except, I got a note from FedEx that i had to pay tarriffs... My tariff was $5, but FedEx was charging a $25 tariff handling fee on top of the $5. And if I didn't prepay, they would instead charge $40 total to collect my $5 tarriff.

FUCK FedeEx for having the audacity to request a refund from the federal government on top of their blind extortion. These fuckers need to burn.

  • When he says the economy is doing well, it's when he personally is doing well. And when he says the economy stinks, it's when he personally is losing money or about to be tossed in the clink.

The grift is going well for him right now, so by his terms, the economy is going gangbusters. He doesn't give a fuck about anyone but himself.

His tariff announcements are simply an opportunity for him to sell high and but low (plus an opportunity to extract personal contributions from the countries that play ball with him).

  • American Evangelicism is just fascism with wrapping paper and a bow. Their beliefs stand in stark constant to what Jesus actually taught, and they pick, choose, and misinterpret the Bible to support their pre-existing beliefs while discarding the rest. They lie to themselves and each other and speak in coded language. Since their outward appearance is simply a veneer covering their true beliefs, when Trump came along and started saying everything they felt, and doing the hideous actions they all want to do, it didn't matter that he doesn't hide behind a veneer or speak in coded language. He is a perfect reflection of who they truly are, and as a result they see him as a prophet or even Messiah.

It's because the American Evangelicals are not, and have never been, who they claim to be. They're hideous, hateful, selfish people that somewhere deep down knew they needed a cover for their horrendous nature.

  • The way that bat has it's wings crossed, I'd describe it as a bit of a 'folder'.

  • I don't know, but the Ivanpah solar power station near Primm NV, which is a set of three molten salt towers is reportedly getting decommissioned, removed, and replaced with PV panels. Word is PV technology had improved in efficiency and stopped in cost enough that the whole molten salt thing is no longer economically viable, at least in comparison.

  • Northern Nevada can get pretty frosty. I remember seeing -14f there on a particularly cold morning. I'm in Southern NV now, and it was around 90f yesterday. Overnight lows are barely getting under 70f still. Coldest I've ever seen here is around 28f, and I can't remember the last time it even got to freezing.

  • Nope, Nevada. One of the other mildly infuriating things about this flier.

  • Nope, USA. The third infuriating thing about this flier.

  • Mildly Infuriating @lemmy.world

Just got this flyer in the mail today.

  • Sorry but (1+17+18±20)/4=14

  • The problem is, while using ai is still discretionary, that is rapidly changing, and it ia being integrated into nearly every commercial consumer OS, browser, mobile device, etc. It's entirely plausible that there's a near future where most USAians can't ot don't know how to use any technology that doesnt have this sort of technology integrated.

And if the precedent is already set (which it is), that its perfectly acceptible for companies to turn over people for any sort of actions or words that are not approved by those in power...

  • I could swear I'd run across some packaged prawns in game, but i may be hallucinating that. Weird though, as I can even visualize the packaging. I did find this when searching though from a fallout game that was cancelled:

  • My buddy for 17 years, since passed - Bailey (because he was a tabby with a belly the same color of Bailey's Irish Cream.

My current littermates, brother and sister:

    Girl: Willett Boy: Scout

Both named after bourbons - Willett and Smooth Ambler Old Scout.

  • Of course Obama did more drone strikes than Bush - drones were barely a thing during the Bush years. The technology only became practical, cost effective, and mass produced during Obama's term.
