The philosophy of Masmune Shirrow's Appleseed

The manga comic book touched on several philosophical concepts abour war, survival, humanity, society, sustainability, theology all packed into a super-cool techno-futuristic art world. In the original video, a citizen of olympus asked himself if he was in a utopia, or a gilded cage. A bit of both the audience concludes.

The very premise of the bioroids as a societal scale buffer between all the conservatives and karens, leopards, tankies, anarcho-fashionistas and intellectuals, jocks, dweebs, nerds, motorheads and punks screams in the here and now.

It's a fine work of science fiction that stands up well to events and developments since past its time.

It's lost none of its potency.
