No ID Checks for Web Access

The Government is proposing new powers that could force adults to prove their identity just to be online.

They say they want the power to ban under 16s from social media. But they are giving themselves the power to restrict access to all “internet services". This means that anyone over 18 could be forced to do an ID check to access everything from blogs and websites to online games and apps.

They also want to be able to impose curfews - which means we could also have to undergo ID checks just to be online at night!
