Senator Church Holds CIA 'Heart Attack Gun' During Committee on Misconduct By Surveillance Agencies, 1975

The Church Committee sought to investigate abuses and reign in the CIA, FBI, and NSA. This committee would reveal controversial programs including MKULTRA and COINTELPRO.

It would result in President Ford issuing Executive Order 11905 banning political assassinations among other things.
