Hi! I do have it fairly stable, but with a 30fps cap. I rarely see significant framedrops.

Out of curiosity, why would you post this here? This is more of a Proton support community than anything. Not really meant for accusations of the company to my knowledge.
Also, I've been using Proton for ~3 years now and had never heard of a student discounted plan.
The only thing better about iphones compared to most androids is the video recording quality. Otherwise there's nothing to justify having an iphone over android.
Some counters to bring up to people that defend iphones:
"I can customize anything I want with android"
"I can get real privacy with android if I degoogle it"
"android gets real innovation in new phones, not just another camera"

Digging up an old comment to do something like this is something people enjoy for some reason, and I don't get it.
Look for the positives, not the negatives, for God's sake. There's too much negativity in this world (which probably won't change, but I can hope).

The only real issues I've encountered are the occasional short downtimes (they really aren't often).
If you're ever worried about their status, they do have a status page here.
I haven't ever had any trouble with people not receiving emails from me, and I don't travel as of right now.
Anyways, I'd give their free plan a try and go from there, just to see what you think, but I think it's a fantastic option.
I don't watch a ton of YouTube anymore, but when I do it's usually the likes of techtubers and gaming creators that incorporate humor with a few "I create dumb stuff for the internet" type channels mixed in.
I'll list few of my favorite channels, with Piped links of course :)
And, not open source, but if you want to support the creators (and artists) you like, buy merch. YouTube doesn't get a cut of the merch sales to my knowledge.
