Writer, poet, creative dabbler, geek, cycling and star trek fan. Tends to ramble on about things she likes.

(the username was a suggestion from a url generator for a writing related website, and I immediately made it my nickname all over the internet)

  • I do sometimes go back, but most of the places I used to visit are empty other than bots sharing crap. It used to be such a great place, had really supportive groups but also many many weird ones.

  • I agree. IRC was definitely great. Staying connected was definitely a problem, but the conversations made up for that. I had so many good friendships there, and I loved the ease of creating a new channel and gather there with friends. The ops system was definitely really good. You could do everything with the channel.

I do frequent old servers I used to hang out on sometimes, if they still exist, that is, but like usenet, most channels are for downloading or nsfw stuff. Really sad, it was such a cool place to be!

  • I really miss IRC and usenet. And I know both still exist but I miss the communities there 😊

  • I’ve had my SE3 for a year and the battery is already deteriorating fast, hope they’ve figured it out for the 4.

I’m actually surprised there will be a 4. I had the idea that apple wanted to stick with large everything.

I have small hands and large phones give me pain issues. Hope they will keep making SE’s now 😊

  • There are a couple of types of procrastination for me.

There is the productive kind, where I’m idling away while pondering a blog post or a plot point in my writing.

And the unproductive kind. The kind where I just don’t wanna.

What I do is force myself to move. Set a timer for a couple minutes and do a simple task.

This usually helps me get into the flow.

  • It’s never as bad as you fear.

    Sleep is sacred!

  • That’s great, thank you. I always just put on Lofi girl on YouTube or, if I want to work not connected to the internet, I put on a playlist for some of the albums I downloaded on my iPod nano.

  • It came highly recommended because it’s a fast server under food management. I have no idea where it’s hosted 😊

  • Ps as for obsidian:

it is said to be comparable, but Obsidian was too confusing and limited for me. Logseq is intuitive for me and that’s what I need for my addled brain 😊

  • It’s cross platform, for desktop and mobile. I run it on my Linux box, my Mac and my iPhone.

To synchronise you have to pay 5 dollars a month, but it’s worth it, as it’s the first time I found something that just fit with how my brain works.

You can run it stand alone for free on either platform to try it out, that’s how I started. if you would like to know more, don’t hesitate to ask

  • Logseq (my everything app)Ulysses (for all my writing)Procreate (for drawing)Raindrop.io (for links)Bend (stretching app, great for creating my own routines based on health status)Antistress (app with all sorts of low stress games for when anxiety goes through the roof)wefwef, vernissage and mona (fediverse)

  • I chose lemm.ee because it came highly recommended and rightfully so. Great management and great communities too

  • I use the old reader most of the time.

  • I think that people will still stick with Reddit just like there are a lot of people still using Twitter: it feels like their home online.

Here’s a funny thing though, I’ve seen so many posts on Lemmy by people saying they were lurkers on Reddit but they do (intend to) post here.

That can’t be a coincidence 😊I am one of those former lurkers/occasional posters and I’m kinda active here.

(As an aside: I do wonder if the lack of overload due to constant ads can be attributed to that)

I really don’t miss Reddit much now, because the communities on Lemmy are wonderful, and they can only grow more.

  • That was such a great episode. I watched it last night and woke up thinking about it. Really great. I love the addition of Pella in the crew, and that La-An went to her for help later in the episode.

Do have to admit that I was a tad disappointed that Pella didn't come to her at the end remarking something about the clothes looking familiar.

And this James T. Kirk is growing on me! I first wasn't convinced, but he really was so good in this episode. The call at the end was so bittersweet.

  • I usually like dedicated apps, but wefwef changed my mind. It’s by far the best PWA I’ve seen so far.

  • I certainly do! Reddit was just too loud in every way.

  • IRC and Usenet. I was an avid user of both, even met my partner on IRC. I really miss the close knit communities on both. Oh and yahoo groups at the beginning.
