  • This is great, you got yourself a new customer!

Local-only and fully FOSS, I truly appreciate it!

I'll subscribe as soon as I get on my rig!

  • Are you saying it draws less CPU resources while performing roughly the same?

  • This is great! We need more enshittification on X!

  • I can infer that you want suggestions for cost efficient backup power. Depending on the laptop model, it could power the HDD and in case of an outage it could draw power from the laptop's battery. It would decrease battery charge duration but it would be enough for a graceful shutdown to prevent data loss.

Alternatively, you could maybe use a battery pack.

  • Nothing like a miniature sized trikini to survive the zombie outbreak.

  • Says Velma with an oversized sweater, just look at Daphne's outfit... Like, zoinks, Scoob!

  • I can't help but think that this is the result of the CEO wanting to protect the company's investment instead of actually caring.

I know there's still good people in there, but as a whole, much of what they've done recently has earned my distrust.

  • What power?

  • Great news for preservation.

  • So, $ 633 - $ 715 if they go by average markup margins (15-30%). But that's a big IF. Seeing as this is a low volume product compared to giants like Apple or Dell for example, I would expect the possibility of even greater numbers. I am assuming Valve is underestimating the initial demand and does not plan to market the product outside of their current countries and is not planning to advertise the product heavily.

  • Great project. Thanks for sharing, and cool you chose to open source some / all of it. That said...

    Paperweight, a local-first open-source desktop app

Are the paid features open source too? If so, then it's really open source.

If the paid features are not open source, then the project does not grant the 4 freedoms the FSF requires to recognize the project as open source.

This is commonly known as open core (or open washing?).

I'm not giving advice on what you should do, I'm only pointing out a possible incoherence between what you say and what you made.

  • Scan this QR code with your moble device to verify if you have been rickrolled. reCAPTCHA protects you from rickrolling and will not give you up and share your details with rickrollers nor it will let you down and desert you.

  • Seriously, everytime I caved to hype and downloaded a demo or purchased a Sony published game... it was for nothing, just cool graphics, and I ended up refunding it. As a 42 year old, I've played those kind of games countless times, graphics alone won't grab my attention enough to keep me playing.

That said, if they ever published the shadow of the colossus remake on Steam, I would buy that in a heartbeat just to collect it. I've finished it multiple times, but I want to be able to comfortably play it whenever I please, with the touch of a button, for the rest of my life.

  • I remember being excited about android updates. Now I just want Linux on phones to be usable

  • They lost billions with Concord & Marathon plus there's the Steam Machine launch that gives them a bad vibe, just let them finish sinking the ship.

  • Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft tried that too. They are all back on Steam. I don't see a bright future for Sony.

  • what's THE Chinese controller to buy nowadays ? I want something like a standard xbox controller but with durability, TMR, etc.

  • If you ever played a Spiderman game for that matter. I couldn't finish Spidey Blue. So boring. Cool cinematics tho.
