A husband. A father. A senior software engineer. A video gamer. A board gamer.

  • And she should ignore them and run how she sees fit.

  • Don’t worry everyone! It’ll get bought by some investment firm or by a large company (Microsoft [to shutter it], Google, etc) and everything will be just fine.

    Right?

    sigh

  • Never once used the word suddenly.

  • I make an assumption, admittedly, that a Congress of integrity and patriotism would use their impeachment power to rid the judicial system of such obvious corruption and unethical behavior.

We have no such Congress -- which is my entire point.

  • 100% in agreement.

  • Could take days if anyone in Congress had a spine and would impeach and convict obvious lying and corrupt judges. But without Congressional term limits and because of Citizen United, no one in Congress has any incentive to make the country better, and all the incentives to enrich themselves.

There are outliers, of course, but that number is probably in the single digits.

  • She’s not. But this “they’re all the same” bullshit is what sows discord and will get Trump re-elected.

They’re not wrong that our policy toward Israel needs re-evaluation. But I would caution against engaging with anyone who equates Trump to Biden or Harris.

  • Yeah, I’ve also found Razer to be quite bad both in quality of hardware and support.

Only thing I own now that is made by Razer is a mouse.

  • Shit site has gone to shit. Shocker.

  • There are valid reasons to do this, of course. But yeah it fits the image.

  • I think the world would be in a better place if people stopped believing in fairy tales. This includes religion, Santa Claus, and every other useless nonsense.

Religion, specifically, set the world back by 1000-1500 years. Sure would be nice to live in a time when cancer doesn’t run rampant — but nah, let’s let the imaginary fairy grandpa solve everything for centuries.

  • And this is one more reason I will only buy a laptop from System76, Framework, or Tuxedo to run Linux.

All motherboard manufacturers irrespective of OEM should provider a firmware mode that can be boot to, allowing BIOS upgrades. But since they don’t seem to, especially with laptops, seems best to stick with known vendors whose primary OS they support is Linux.

Good luck, OP. Hope the live Windows USB thing works. Just be careful to not get infected with Recall or any other Microsoft nonsense :)

  • Much, much larger.

  • This is a valid problem to solve with AI. I sure wish CEOs of all the moron companies jumping on the AI buzzword bandwagon would take note that AI should be for real problems to solve, not just to hitch a ride on the train and hope your stock goes up.

  • It’s a wish, why would I settle?

  • Install protonplus, then using it, install GE-Proton9-10 (or whatever is the most recent) for Steam. Then switch to using that within Steam (and Lutris, if you use that for other games, so it will use the umu-launcher instead).

    See if that helps.

  • A billion dollars?

  • Yes, the police said he fell down an elevator shaft. Onto some bullets.

  • Thank you!

Sadly none of those links, unless I somehow missed it, directly quote Newell, but given the contemporaneous discussion on it and the citations linking to pages that no longer work, it seems benefit of the doubt is reasonable.

I think if Newell has gone on record as such, he is right to do so if MS does decide to abandon win32. Thing is though, one of the reasons win32 and even the registry have existed this long is so they don’t alienate developers.

It’s speculative, but my opinion is the only way MS would ever do this is if they decide to create a completely brand new operating system (one that eschews NTOSKRNL, NTFS, the registry, etc, in favor of something new).

However, it looks to me as if they’re all in on Windows 11 with this nonsensical Recall and other “AI” craziness, they don’t seem to be focusing on much else — so maybe that’s a good thing :)
