  • Songs that will always be good are like:

Son of a Preacher Man - Dusty Springfield

    Just a Day - Feeder

Or do you mean songs that will always sound new? That’s a harder one.

  • I’m into home distilling and there’s some guy called Alex who posted under Bokakob and designed a still back in 2001 and posted it on homedistiller.org. That design is still in use today and nobody really knows much about that guy or heard from him much since.

  • That gets addressed in the article. They say it doesn’t help because suppliers know they’ve got a payout and all want a piece.

  • On when I need it. Otherwise I’m clicking captchas all day.

  • I’ve seen this game mentioned a few times. I think I’ll have to play it knowing how short it is. I hate games that hang around too long.

  • That’s mental. It’d be illegal in many countries. In the UK any place that sells alcohol has to give free water.

  • I really like GNOME but I just find desktop UI to be frustrating. Moving to the top left corner and then having to go to the bottom to see your apps is just dogshit. You can install mods and stuff to make it better but for everything you install you’re increasing the likelihood of bugs and incompatibilities that only increase over time, especially if the mods stop getting updated.

I do however like everything else. The settings are far more sensible, the KDE ones look like they started sensible and they’ve just kept on adding crap and moving stuff. It needs overhauling. The apps however are absolutely bang on and they’ve got totally the right idea. Included apps should be lightweight and cover everything you might need as a casual user, and if you want something more specialist you can go and find an alternative. All the KDE stuff is a mess; they’re all way too complicated, there’s overlapping functionality, and nothing gets updated. Unfortunately the GNOME apps just don’t look right outside of GNOME.

  • The idea of not securing your car in some way seems absolutely mental. This was the fault of the parents.

  • I had some friends who would go on holiday and come back with VHS tapes with badly photocopied covers. The films were really bad quality as well. I was too young to understand what piracy was so I just thought that really bad videos were normal in the country to which they were going.

  • I wish I liked coffee because there seems to be so many interesting ways of making it, but it tastes like someone farted in an ashtray and then poured hot water in.

  • I print car parts with PETG. I lived in Morocco for a while and everything was fine. Load bearing parts inside the car would probably struggle over time but I didn’t have any problems.

  • Every device has parental controls on it now, but they need to be switched on.

  • I read the article it says the lobbying organisation behind air con, etc, doesn’t actually want this. They’d rather investment went towards newer tech as supplies of the old materials are dwindling.

  • I don’t get this knee-jerk hate. He’s a big advocate for climate control. He’s preaches about is so much Parliament stopped reading his letters and inviting him in.

  • They said details will be released once it’s been patched. If somebody has an Apple priv sec they’re not going to giving it away for free.

  • No Mans Sky is my chill game.

  • It’s weird that he thinks that “passage” justifies a country in what it’s doing. In the Bible it was God who said that, not a person. It’s like he thinks the US is equivalent to God.

  • My wife floated the idea of a watch party for this but nobody wanted to come because they’re all boycotting it due to Israel being allowed in. I understand Eurovision’s angle that they’re not political but surely genocide should be recognised.

I’m going to tune in to watch Israel as the broadcaster’s said they won’t block the booing. I expect it’ll get blocked in Israel though.

Israel might even win actually, since they’re still allowed to vote up to 10 times and everyone’s boycotting it. That’ll be a fucking nightmare for Eurovision.

  • If there’s this baked in idea that when they make an online only game it’s eventually going to have to have server software open sourced or disable online checks, they’ll soon adapt.
