In fact, if they have the know-how, they should switch to something else. Android nowadays isn't much different from iOS, and I'm pretty sure that what was included in iOS will eventually land on Android too.
Fediverse already exists, with all its tools and instances (Lemmy, Mastodon, PixelFed, etc). It's democratic, as anyone can host an instance or join an instance where they are accepted.
A minha experiência diz que em português ainda tem pouca atividade e conteúdo. Mas podes seguir comunidades de outras instâncias, e nesse aspeto há muita variedade e atividade.
As mudanças são necessárias e urgentes. A parte difícil será chegar a acordo, pelo menos a um acordo que não esteja tão diluído que o seu impacto seja menor.
Pelo que vejo, para contribuir novas entradas, parece ser necessário entrar com uma conta da Google, Apple ou do Twitter, pelo menos por enquanto.
