  • I hate complexity. A few years ago, I wanted to add some feature to some personal code of mine. But I just couldn't figure out how to do that without rewriting a significant portion of it to allow for that. There was another feature (let's call it feature 2) that just added so much complexity to the code that made things hard. I had an absolute stroke of genius: Just delete feature 2. This probably sounds stupid but I felt like a goddamn genius. Just deleting something solved all my problems.

  • I hate Elon as much as the next guy, but I have to admit that that car looks pretty good and aesthetic. Damn.

  • Fck. This is me. Jesus. Keep busy!

  • Where can I get those icons?

  • Sublime text. It is just so fucking good! Much more performant than even nvim.

  • So it seems like lemmy is still improving in content, even though the reddit situation has stabilised. That is awesome to see!

  • Oh, that really sucks..

Getting a native conversation view should be a focus for them!

  • Another sticky.. I understand that you want to convey info but why not just create a post without sticking and those interested in it will read it? I am not subscribed to !meta@programming.dev and I still see all stickies in my frontpage..

  • Is there now conversation view without having to use an extension?

  • I have an account on .world and can see NSFW content from lemmynsfw..

  • Others have already said, but I will reinterate:

You have to go to your account settings and enable "Show NSFW". It is off by default.

  • That machine looks really interesting! Though it is way too expensive for me. I wonder if there is a (much) cheaper alternative somewhere.

  • The subscribe button is a bug that should be fixed in the next release. As a work around, if you click any other button in that page, the issue should be fixed. Try it.

  • What the fuck.. Hahah, you actually poured beans in a Croc. Damn bro

  • Friendly reminder that lemmy is still bring actively developed. There will be many performance improvements in the future, as well as UI and whatnot. Stick around, create content and engage with your communities.

  • I don't think the scale of what is happening at lemmy.world resembles what is happening on programming.dev. lemmy.world has 82k users. programming.dev has 4.4k. Hopefully more general instances are created, because it seems like people general instances as opposed instances such as mander.xyz and programming.dev. The beauty of decentralization is not being used to its full potential atm, I think.

  • Lemmy.world is ran by a pro. Dude runs one of the most used mastodon instances. The fact that Programming.dev is stable while .world is not quite so, is purely due to the amount of users. Get 80k on this instance and you will see what happens..

  • I would love if third party apps added a banner linking to Lemmy. That would be great.

  • Good. It is important to have different instances to distribute the load though. However, I hope there are not many people joining BeeHaw...
