  • That's so cool! They only appear very briefly, but I immediately went away and looked them up. I didn't know about them before! I have a favourite uncle with a spinal injury who's mostly in a wheelchair, but can get around on crutches, so I immediately felt connected to the character. I'm a huge fan of more disabled representation.

  • That's so strange, I've been getting the same thing. Going to the link directly failed, but searching for mastodonworld and clicking on the link somehow worked. Now it seems to be working again 🤷

  • Its an important question, and one I'd like to see more discussion on. Something you can do is look at the modlog for the instance and see if there's any actions in there that make you suspicious.

    I chose this instance on the strength of that code of conduct, but I'd be happy to abandon this account right now and start fresh on a new instance if I no longer felt comfortable with the policies here. For now though I've chosen to put my trust here, and I guess thats all that can be done for now.

    The alternative is to start your own instance, because then you'd have maximum control, but I know thats not realistic for me or many others tight now.

  • The instance is getting pretty heavily loaded at the moment. Its possible something went wrong with saving the setting properly. Maybe in a few minutes try checking that the your settings are shown correctly in the UI and and then going to the front page again?

  • Are you using the back button or are you clicking a link to the homepage directly?

    I've noticed that the browser back button will usually take you back to the state of the page you were on, rather than your defaults.
