  • Its not weird at all. The tone of that comment is shit and uncalled for, this sort of hostility has decayed the community [possibly] past the point of no return.

    This isn't some sort of unchecked fascism, we are talking about AI features in Firefox. I think it is poor behavior to lead in to that conversation with an insult and I'm going to call it out.

    I have been a part of this community for almost a decade, and I'm invested in its conduct. i want to be a part of a community that is above le Reddit and X the everything app^TM; if you aren't interested in elevating the level of discussion I guess I wonder why you wouldnt just be over there anyway.

  • He is on the cool side of DemSoc, not milquetoast. Think DSA International committee or Red Star caucus. The two orgs he promotes most are DSA and PSL.

    He is a socialist American political media commentator, and I think he should serve that role and do nothing else. He is going to be funneling a lot of energy into both of those orgs as the cultural pendulum swings back to the left.

    He says himself that he is a propagandist because it's true, I think he has a path to be the "tucker Carlson of the left", but that's about 5 years out (heh)

    If you are a part of the US American left you should be aware of him and what he's about, because he is taking our views to the big stage right now. A loooot of people are going to start agreeing with us soon, so those of us who are politically aware, active, and involved in some sort of organizing (that's all of us, right?) need to be locked in and ready to interact with these people. Israel is getting less and less popular every day, and that has blunted the tip of the imperial spear in an irrreperable way, not to mention the Iran quagmire. I think we are going to see a lot of development across the global south in the next two decades, as the force of imperial resistance decays.

  • Yeah, the community is not as left-wing as Hexbear, no shti, it's le Reddit dot com.

    I find scraping a left-wing community for takes with single digit upvotes, and posting them for sneering and criticism from a distance to be somewhat distasteful. There is obviously no interest in using this as an educational opportunity (which that subreddit is prime for, among others) since there are no links are in the post.

    I particularly find this post out of place on Hexbear which is descended from very similar community where many of us would have posted similar takes 6+ years ago before we developed our analysis further.
