  • I noticed links open on the in-app browser when tapping from inside the post. I agree tapping on a link directly from the feed should also open within the app. I’m sure many users on beta have already reported it.

  • The statement about people trust corporations, not people is valid; that’s why I stopped using the “don’t have doors” and “let me see your phone” argument because people will think it’s different in that you personally know them, instead of some faceless corporation collecting your data.

It got me thinking of a better example, and the one I came up with is baby monitors and home/door cctv cameras. A lot of companies providing those services lack any kind of security in that anyone can potentially see your camera live feed on the internet. Not that anyone’s watching, but someone could if they wanted. So if you’re not hiding anything, would you be fine that your baby monitor can potentially be used for whatever reason even though no one in your social circle can’t “see” it?

  • Thanks for all your hard work on this. I’ve used lasim to transfer my subscriptions to my other accounts on other instances when the lemmy.world downtimes happened last week. I love the portability of the tool.

  • Yeah that’s where a lot of people called bullshit.

  • They were/are. They’re just making it official now.

  • Putting Brave and Firefox next to each other doesn't sit right with me. I'd say Brave is the tech normie's "secure" browser. Then you can put Librewolf next to Firefox.

  • Just installed to test it, thanks! One thing I immediately noticed is that in compact mode, I keep on accidentally downvoting posts when trying to open them. We can already upvote/downvote using arrows on the right side so I think it would be better to just open the post when tapping anywhere on the post title. Great work and I’m loving how snappy it is, and I’m also using the memmy and mlem betas.

  • A dash of fried garlic or furikake on the rice would be amazing.

  • You don’t seem to be getting an actual answer to your question, so I’ll try. IMO it’s the idea of being the master of your own domain and being in control; basically being an admin. If you want to be on an instance designed to your own preferences, like which instances it federates with and what communities you want to host, then the ultimate way to do it is to create and host your own instance.

  • You’ll need to have some kind of monitoring in place. Firewall logs, packet capture (i.e. wireshark), security onion, and a bunch of other security logging/monitoring tools. If you’re hosting on the cloud, your provider may have some free tools you can use (i.e. CASB).

  • Account switching finally! Thanks for all your hard work!

  • He's just saying that so when he eventually does not take the stand, he can proclaim to his followers that he wanted to but he's being prevented by the power that be.

  • They should hold their sessions with the a/c in the building turned off.

  • I was gonna say this. I think this is the most popular one.

  • I think Elton John testified in Spacey’s trial and sorta corroborated Spacey’s alibi that he was somewhere else when the assault in question happened. I didn’t really read much into it but that’s how I understood it. Anyone correct me if I’m wrong.

  • What are the effects for other parts of the world like Asia and North America? I read somewhere that northern US states will become the most tolerable in the US, and Florida (if it doesn’t drown first) and a lot of the south are gonna be uninhabitable.

  • The popular Mastodon instances seem to be more stable than the Lemmy ones though. I don’t think I’ve experienced any extended downtime on the Mastodon instances I’ve been on yet. Also, because of the race between the tons of lemmy apps being developed, they tend to have more bugs (on beta). I use Tusker beta for Mastodon and it’s been very stable compared to the Memmy and Mlem betas.

  • Yup, I can be late for hours to comment on a post and can still get replies. If you’re late by an hour on a popular sub on reddit, you might as well not comment at all.

  • I’m seeing Oppenheimer on IMAX later today and I’m already dreading the Nolan sound design. Is it bad? Hopefully not Tenet bad?
