  • I have a hyprland „rice“ config (didn’t do it myself) which came with beautiful backgrounds ootb but I don’t really use it at all. The one i mostly use is close to stock sway with the default sway-bg background.

  • I was trying to get my leg nursed back to health which got fucked up big time right before I turned 18. Still haven’t recovered completely almost 10 years later due to nerve damage but all in all I was lucky not to lose a leg.

    Spent a few months in a wheelchair, after that I smoked at lot of weed, met lots of people and just had fun. I watched kids shows I wasn’t allowed to watch as a kid, watched all James Bond movies, went out to drink and dated casually. I also started a Spotify playlist which I kept updating for 5 years, has about 2.5k songs now if I remember correctly. Played a lot of league of legends otherwise can’t really remember the games.

    But let me tell you, The months between finishing school and beginning to study were some of the best in my life. Pure freedom

  • Volksempfänger(propaganda radio), Volkswagen, Volkssturm, völkischer beobachter(nazi newspaper) etc. all originate in that time or were used excessively. So maybe not directly but there are lots of signs or rather word combinations that originated in that time.

  • There were some early-ish mobile games were like really good. Infinity blade, Modern combat 2, The tintin game (to the ~2015 movie) and Rainbow six Are some that come to mind. Key point they were not drowning in ads and had actual single player stuff while mc2 and r6 even had local multiplayer via Bluetooth.

  • I get you. But it’s the same with WhatsApp and windows and … They won’t leave comfort zone, which I can understand but the argumentation drives me crazy sometimes. I fucking despise the ads /- industry today, so that’s a no brainer for me, but people don’t seem to mind seeing the same slop again and again.

  • Yeah he’s playing a lot with words that’s why I was so intrigued because I’ve thought about what a pain it would be to translate or rather how I would translate certain words.

    There are a lot of neologisms in his books so I guess that’s an extra barrier for translations. Probably the books gotta make $$ for the translation to be worth the effort financially.

    The city of dreaming books is good as well but does not hold up to the other two imho.

    Happy to hear that the books that did get translated were apparently well translated :)

  • Rumo is my favorite Zamonia novel, but the captain was my introduction to the series. I must have read it 5/6 times, maybe that’s why rumo is now my favorite :) You’ve read/heard it in English right? Runo and the captain have audiobooks in German which i enjoyed quite a lot, I wonder how the translations hold up.
