To me balance is key. For example, I use ipods where I put all my music collection that I have backed up in several HD. There still a feeling of ownership having those mp3 files available whenever I want. Now, I also own vynils which I love listening to having a coffee in my sofa. To me that's actually a good balance between digital and analog that actually works. Going full streaming did never satisfy me.
2001 a space odisey or most of Tarkovsky films (even though I love the concept and I do consider them as groundbreaking for their time)... I can't stand them. I tried.
I need to buy a new phone and my criteria is basically yours, plus having a good camera. I would go for the FP6 but as I was checking a review video, the camera is not very good... Do you have by any chance any recommendations?
I use Spotify to conveniently stream an album to decide whether or not to download it into my ipod. Imo offline devices are, were and will keep being the best option (while on an airplane, on a road trip with no signal) and I get the feeling to own my music and to know the context of the artist I am listening to.
I also discovered a while ago the amazing arrival of pinneaples to Europe, back then they were so rare and expensive that there were companies providing rental services for pinneaples. Rich people would host a pinneaples party, to basically show it, and then to be returned to the company that rented it. Crazy pinneaple times indeed!
What a great post. Thanks for sharing!
